Default 2003 7.3L powerstroke...cranks, won't run

Not my truck...don't do much diesel work and I don't have mech's for the truck/a scan tool.

Guy was driving down the road, hit a bump, truck would then only idle and the Overdrive "OFF" light along with the "wait to start" light came on in the dash. Gas pedal did nothing at this time, but he pushed the OD button on the shift lever and everything started acting OK again.

Later in the day, same thing happened, but it died a few seconds after and hasn't restarted since.

Checked the crank/cam position sensor, not bad. Checked oil, it's full, checked the high pressure oil pump reservoir, it's full as well. Checked for fuel in the fuel filter housing, it's there and flows without bubbles with the key on/engine off.

What's next??? I'm not a powersmoke guy, and I'm fighting with my hand tied behind my back without any diag info/scan tool.

Do you get a check engine light on when you turn the key on? If not check fuses, esp. the pcm fuse. It powers a heater in the fuel filter that shorts out and takes out that fuse. There also is a battery connection under the air filter in a red box, sometimes those corode and break.

Rumor has it that the injection drive module went bad...they ended up taking it in. We'll see if that fixes it.
