Default Opinions, Help, Suggestions

Hi, im lookin for a first car and am really into Ford Broncos (mostly between '78 and '84 and '91-'96). Want one that hasn't been beat to shit (daily driver would be great) and would like to lift it/tires myself.. just looking for some tips or things i should know about the bronco, or things i should look for , maybe something for sale looking for under $2500... figured there'd be a few people on here that know about them...thanks

-Drew

Good call there... the 302 would be better than the 351 then right?

Not necessarily. IMO the 302 was underpowered for that rig. Id be surprised if it got better mileage. I've never seen numbers but it just seemed we always had to have our foot through the floorboard in my buddies just to get that beast going.

Generally the bigger engine will take more gas, just a easy rule of thumb. but there are alot more factors-how was it broke in, what size tires and gears, ect. i agree with statement somewhat on 302, it can be doggy when you throw bigger tires on with stock gears, but plenty of power on mine with stock 235's.

I'm gonna want bigger tires so what would you guys recommend with the engine? Is the 302 that much underpowered that mpg wouldn't be a lot different?

Idk, the bronco in the link I posted is a 302 MAF, with 33's and 3.55s it does decent and I seem to average 14ish mpg with mix of city/country driving. It did pretty decent on the sand dunes as well.
