So ive got a friend who just blew his ring and pinion in his full width 8.8. He told me I could have it for $20. Ive got a regular 8.8 under my ranger right now and have been looking to go full width. Is there anything wrong with using that axle vs a dana 60 etc? I mean its cheap as hell, and ive got the locker and gearing in my axle right now I could put in it. Any ideas on what to do?

Yeah, Chevy's do break a lot. Good thing they have decent brakes to stop them.

Front will be a 60. I guess I'm going 14 bolt or dana 60/70 for the rear. I found a few good deals locally.

Your locker won't work with the full width shafts. Being full width, it's probably 31-spline where the Ranger is 28-spline.
