Default Thompson Center Scout Muzzeloader -Trades? Pics added

New in 97. Has a scope on it. Honestly I don'tknow a whole lot about it or what it's worth. my brother told me it's a pretty good gun and the guy I got it from said it works great and has killed a lot of deer with it. It does have some rust on the barrel but it could be reblued pretty easily I guess. Has a hard case, scope, and a bunch of caps and stuff with it.

$80 FIRM. Trade for some car audio? Possibly trade for a cool .22 or something cool. Xj aftermarket bumper.

SEE BELOW FOR PICS

Feel free to make an offer. I got the value off the web, so it may be high, or low, really not sure.

pictures help a lot. If I am not mistaken this is a side hammer gun not an inline? does it use a #11 cap? If its a side hammer with the #11 cap its hard to sell them. I basicly had to give my Thompson and center away when I went to a new inline and that is what most people want. I think I got $80 to $100 and kept my scope and I had it for sale for a long long time and was very lucky to get that.

and yes if I remember right the scout is a very nice looking gun and nice in its day!

I'll try and get some pictures up. I can text them to anyone interested. I think I'll pass on $50 I can get $20 just from the hard case.

the scout is a hammer gun, but the hammer is behind the receiver like a convenional rifle.. very nice gun and can be easily converted to a 209 primer. hope this helps

wow those guns always looked nice but this thing has seen better days. I wonder how bad the inside is if they let the outside get like this I think the rifling is probably shot. black powder is terrible on them good luck.

No, he said he always waxed the inside of the barrel for storage. It's those crappy foam lined hard cases that ruin guns. they hold moisture then push it against the barrel. Even if you put it in wet, then take it home and clean it, it still holds the moisture.

You can buy this stuff for like $10 that will remove the rust and reblue the barrel, I just on;t have time to screw with it.

Thanks for the pictures,
Might need to check out the rifling. It does need much work. If you still trying to hit the 150 mark and the bore is fine you should invest in the time to bring it back. If the bore is bad Ive seen barrels for this go go for 75-100 bux.

I have tried the rebluing before and although it can be done at home I recomend getting it hot blued it cost me $125.00 on the last one I had reblued but there was no pitting from the rust not sure if you can get those pits out of there. Converting it to a 209 primer now that would be nice. when these came out I always wanted one but now I have a inline CVA that rocks.
I have also had a gun nearly wrecked from putting in the case driving home and forgetting about it to the next morning dumb dumb dumb but sh%t happens.

wasn't the reciever of these guns case hardened to give you the wavey rainbow color look and the barrel just blued?

No, my father and i play around with old wall hangers and there is no way to get the pitting filled and then get uniform blueed finish. The only thing i can see with this barrel is bead blasting and try getting all the surface profil similar. As for the reciever i think your right.

The thing is, without the rust, they are selling for $300 on gun broker. I'm asking half thatand would take a reasonable offer. It may not look great but it still works fine from what PO told me. I don't have the time to mess with it and no way I'm putting anymore into it especially $125. I have already lost my ass on it.

I traded a vinyl job for it. Vinyl job normally would have been around $400. I have $80 into materials cost so that as low as i will sell it for to at least recoup my material cost. With the scope and hard case it is worth $80 at least so I wont go any lower than that and call it a loss on my labor. If not I'll just donate to a youngster who wants to go hunting.

I have looked into it though. You can tear it down and bead blast it, use a bottle of oxypho blue and it will run ya about $50. You can send it in and have it torn down and professionally reblued for $125-150. Either way you're still cheaper than buying a good condition used one.

Ya. thats what I get for holding my end of the deal. lesson learned. See the gun before starting on a trade. Guy told me he had $600 into it. Maybe when it was new 13 years ago. I traded for a almost new CVA a few days after that, so I'll be using that one.
