Default New Dick Comercial

Anyone see the new comercial where Dick states that MI could learn from Dick's (Amway) outsourcing deals with China?

I'm not certain but weren't the jobs he outsourced in MI before going to China? And if that is the case how can we learn from taking jobs away from MI??

Correct me if I'm worng . . but thought it was funny if my thoughts are correct.

the thing is, he didnt outsource those jobs...he HAD to build that factory, it's the law in china, that the products sold in china have to be made in china. all the r&d, marketing, and things like that are still done right here in michigan. in fact, the company didnt lay off people until three years AFTER the company opened the doors in china, and since then has created more jobs here in michigan. we could learn from his business dealings, he's a multi-millionare for a reason, and michigan needs that business knowledge

Well in that case then we could possible learn. I didn't know about the China rules and I would imagine a few other people don't know about it either so I think it would be a good idea to clear that up with an additional 5 seconds in a commercial.

The commercial I saw with that Dick in it did mention about building in China to sell to China.

This is the same reason why the domestic car companies do not import vehicles built in China to the States...they are too valuable to bring over.

As I've said all along - DeVos' biggest obstacle is going to be Amway - the company's history and business model, all decision made under his leadership, and the fact that he's a "white republican rich guy".

For many people the word "Amway" is synonomous with "con game / pyramid scheme" (right or wrong).

When Jenny talks about hereself (instead of Amway) it's:

I prosecuted internet sex offenders (before I was elected governor)

I signed bills to require background checks for nursing home employees and child care workers (following a nationawide movement - basically a no-brainer).

I cracked down on gas stations scalping people on 9/11/2001.

A pretty thin resume after four years in office.

Was nice to see his commercial actually. I just wish he'd expand the platform a little bit.

China is a different market. You need to source the content from China to sell it there. I'm going through this now on one of my instrument clusters which will be built out of Shanghai.

Why am I not suprised that CMUJeeper is once again advertising his ignorance?(and in a forum that he promised not to come back to:miff:)

I'd be more interested in seeing WHY people are choosing a particular candidate more than WHY THEY ARE NOT choosing one. Politics lately has become more of whodoes a person dislike the most more than who can do the most in office for John Q Citizen.

Case in poiint, I don't like Dick and I don't like Jenny. As much as I think Dick is going to pad his pockets and his friends while in office, I fear what Jenny will do to us more. I think Dick can and will do alot for Michigan even if he pads his piggy bank at the same time.

That ends up being the way politics are at the moment. With the agression within the parties these days, any candidate who gets into middle is eaten by their own party for being two close to the opposition.

But, the average american generally would prefer someone more moderate/middle ground. Its that backlash thats going to make things interesting this fall. Lot of angry voters.

Yeah, god forbid candidates actually put forth a platform and stick to it. At least then you can know what you're voting into office.

At this point, anyone that is capable of running a successful campaign for a higher level elected office probably doesn't have the moral fiber that I woud want to be in a position of power... I hate Jenny. I hate everything she stands for. I hate her very being. I don't like some of the stances Devos has taken on some issues. Who does that leave me to vote for? The candidate I hate, or the one I don't agree with...

I am in the camp that has not much respect for career politicans. I happen to trust people like devos more than jenny for the block if the fear is they are going to line their pockets not serve the public.

My angle is this, jenny has no money comparitively, she owes favors to everyone who got her where she is, she is trying to set her self up for the big pay days when she retires with her own lobby group, consultant jobs, speaking jobs etc and a deal maker/deal broker. She can make a fortune (not any different than any of the other governors or senators). Plenty of them entered politics at very modest means, sucked lots of political dick, never made more than say 150,000 adjusted for inflation, and suddenly the retire and are multi multi millionaires. Jenny isnt one for lowering taxes, so i find it particulary offensive she wants to give my money away, but she has no problem living it up when she retires. She isnt going to make a fortune and give it away. Devos does lots for charity.

I dont see why simply because devos has money he is more suspicous or has other motivations than serving the public (i think its a ego thing and a family thing,so when they are at palm springs, boca raton, marthas vineyard etc partying with the other rich billionaires in their social circle its "my kid is governor ... its a huge ego thing.) I dont think he is out to line his already outrageous pockets and ruin his families good name. He has more money than he could ever need, why tarnish the family name? Once you are as rich and successful as devos, illitch, bill davison, tom monahan, the manoogians, fishers etc, all you have left to do to increase your status is serve the public. Once your at that level of wealth, everyone is the same once your in the billionaire club. The only way to distinguish your self is be famous for something other than the family name. Especially if you werent the one who made the money, like say the rockefellers that served, the kennedys etc. Once your old man is a billionaire the bar is set pretty high for you to match, and you can never really do it, "since you had it easy". Best you can do is serve the public and give away tons of the families money. You'll never be as good as the guy that made the $$$$

I have to say i would like to see someone run for governor and somehow manage to get publicity and be a front runner and simply not be a career politican, or self financed billionare type.

It is because no self-respecting person can make something of themselves and retain any morals, integrity, honesty...blah blah blah.

or at least, some people would have you think that.

It's funny, but in America, someone that busts their ass to get ahead is held in such low regard. We get penalized by greater taxes, we are held in contempt by others not willing to work as hard, then we are "made example of" by democratic politicians claiming we're taking other's slice of the pie.

Land of the freeloading, home of the "gimmie mine!".
