I will be at silver lake, but i might drive over to watch.
I've only been to r/v once, last summer, I drove around lost for hours, because of all the trails, blew a beed, bent my trac bar,and lost a shovel. IT WAS AWSUME!!!!
the drive back to gr sucked, but we made it. Cant wait to do it again, this time with a few freinds. I love your park!!

Ron,
I agree safety first. The other thought that comes to mind is that if everyone has to deal with a line weight that it is more fair from a standpoint of dealing with another piece of equipment. Installing a line weight could make the 15 second difference of placement. Everyone should have to deal with it.

why would you have a weight on rope? that is the whole idea on spending money for it..it falls to the ground if it breaks.have watched many break and never any injury.any rock comp in the country you do not need a weight for rope. if your concerned about more safety things like full doors,4 point harness, cages must be tied to the frame,no glass windows,no winch line in cab or rapped on front. those are more needed safety items then a weight for rope.....

I didn't say it quite right. I was making a blanket statement about safety. Not specifically about rope.

My real point was that if every team has to deal with a weight it makes it more fair. If the guy with rope doesn't add a weight and a guy with cable does, it will take the guy with cable and extra few seconds to add a weight. Now, you could make the arguement that it's his problem.............

Hang the weight on the front of your winch... Grab it when you grab the cable. Easyyyyy

you need to run some more comps and see how easy it is....the spotter hooks the cable up..running up a rock and rut infested hill..has to carry a strap in one hand and pull cable in other..were does he put the weight? so he gets the line hooked, runs back to the truck to lock the winch in..falls 3 times in the mud so muddy hands and shoes. tells the driver to winch in..oh forgot the weight ...runs back up to put the weight back on..the line know falls...my point is there is a lot for a spotter to do.it takes enough time as it is to get a winch hooked correctly..i bought line just for 1 less thing to deal with..(yes i ran cable also)

You are exactly right. Running rope saves one extra step. The question is, is that a fair advantage or should everyone have to deal with the same issues? I think it could be argued either way.

Oh, and I have never "yet" broken my 3/8 rope. Must be my shitty winch.
