Default Dana 44 steering knuckle swap

Im looking to see if it is possible to swap steering knuckles from a chevy dana 44 on to a ford dana 44 axle to clear a set of rims i purchased...the rims came off of a chevy 3/4 ton with a dana 44 and they fit on there perfect but they wont clear my calipers on the ford dana 44 axle and i would rather not get spacers unless i have to so if anyone can answer this question for me or if anyone has done it and could give a few tips on the swap that would be great...thanks

Yes is will work - providing that you use the Chevy components from the knuckle out including the stub shaft. The chevy spindle is a 6 lug at the knuckle where the Fords were all 5 bolt.

does this also mean that you can go the other way, use a chevy knuckle and then running a ford spindle bearings, brakes ect. I am looking to run a for 9" rear, 5 x 5.5 bp and then run a chevy front 44 and need to get it to 5 x 5.5 bp.

No. You have to use the ford knuckle with the ford spindle. The knuckle to spindle bolt pattern on a chevy is 6 bolt; ford knuckle to spindle is 5 bolt.

Definately should. A dana 44 is a dana 44.
