Default Passenger or driver side drop?

I've been reading up on solid axle swaps and Dana 44s and I keep seeing that some are driver side drop and others are passenger side drop. What does this mean and whats the difference between the two?

They are referring to which side of the truck the differential (center section of the axle) is on. A driver side drop would have the diff on the drivers side. There is also high pinion and low pinion, meaning the part that bolts to the drive shaft is either on top of the diff (HP) or on the bottom (LP). A lot of Ford fronts are high pinion making them more desirable for swaps because of pinion ground clearance and reduced drive shaft angles.
