Default what trans fluid for auto behind 7.3?

standard issue stuff or is there a consensus on a good fluid to run? Tranny has under 100k on it and I want to swap the filter and top it off.

I am not looking to replace my transmission, I am looking to maintain it. I barely put any miles on the truck, so it's not like I am going to be changing it every week, in other words, I'll spend a few extra bucks if there is a better fluid reccomendation than the standard shit.

What year, some run mercon v and superdutys run atf 4 i think. You dont need to spend a lot of money, it takes quite a bit of fluid anyway from what I remember.

I would recommend spending the extra $75 and go with royal purple. You can order it online through advanced auto with there coupons for about 9.50 a bottle.

If you end up going the standard route advance has coastal for 2.99/qt.

I would run motorcraft. Buy it in bulk at Walmart (eventhough I hate that place), they have good prices on motorcraft oils and filters.

Just make sure it is Merc V, no dexron.

IIRC Merc V was updated in 2006 to service your transmission. If you look in your owners manual and it says NOT to use Merc V, do some research first.
