Default 97 S10 Blazer stalling

I thought I would throw this out here and see what kind of responses I get before I get a chance to actually look at my sons truck.
He went through a drive thru car wash the other day and came home and said his truck was running wierd(hesitant and sputtering). On his way to school today it stalled out on him.I went and tried to start it but the motor jumoed all over like it was out of time or missfiring like crazy. On occassion it would start but idle really rough.
I towed it home and when I got it here it started right up and idled fine but when you go to accelerate it starts to hesitate and acts like it's missing again, then stalled and wouldn't start back up as if it were flooded.
I can hear the fuel pump running and smell gas quite well.
Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated.
By the way the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are only a year old. Thanks

moisture under the dist cap. my 99 has been sitting for a month and everytime i come home it wont start. pull the cap off wipe it out and it starts right up. if it ran before going through the car wash and it quit after then that should obviously point to water in a place it shouldn't be. I.E the ignition system

Checked cap and rotor today.Cleaned them out even though they were dry.replaced all the plugs.checked for spark thats good.Have fuel pressure all the way to the intake.Still won't start.Cranks like crazy but no fire.Going to buy a OBD II scanner in a lil while and check for codes.I'm thinking mabe the crank sensor, but will definitely find out tonight.

If your crank sensor was bad I don't think you would have spark. Did you get any codes out of it?

No codes what so ever it says that it passed even in the history.Checked with 2 different scanners. So I have fuel and spark,no codes and still won't fire.I'm thinking the next step is a compression test.Maybe the motor lost compression or I was also told by someone that if the O2 sensor in position 1 bank 1 goes out that it will shut everything down like this. But no code ??????

Timing chain or distributor gear, truck will still start with out any O2 sensors...don't know who told you that BS, it will run rich and get bad gas mileage but that's about it.
