Default 97 S-10 Problem

Got a problem with my 97 S-10 2.2l. It would run rough then smooth out like a cyl was fuel flooded. Tuned it up, plugs were due anyway. Been running sea foam to clear the injectors and that seemed to work but after a tank or so, the problem would come back. More injector cleaner hear and there and things worked ok. Up until a few days ago this was the deal. Then it ran rougher than normal, hooked up the scanner and watched misfire data and the main holes not working were 2 & 3. I was thinking of putting new injectors in and cross my fingers. I'm not sure if those two share a coil pack making it more of a ignition problem and not fuel. I have not pulled any plugs to see what kind of condition they are in, but that is the next step.

Before I drop coin in injectors, I figured I would put it up here and see what the GL4X4 brain trust had to say.

Try cleaning EGR valve first...if it gets stuck open it can throw a misfire code and your motor will run bad.

EGR was working fine. I ended up dropping coin in injectors and of course that didn't fix it. Not a big loss, over 100k on the stockers. I had a complete coil pack/module/bracket from a engine job eons ago along with plug wires seeing that the misfires shared one coil. I put everything on but in doing the wires, the ends stayed on the plugs oddly enough on the problem cylinders. Runs like a Timex now. It'll never run like a Rolex but everything's happy now. Hasn't run this good since December when it started running bad.

Looking at the plug wire ends showed me that at least one wire was bad, the terminal was black from the spark arching and not reaching the plug.

Don't overlook the simple stuff because that could be the problem.

It's weird, I put plugs in it in Dec because there was a misfire on #4. They were original with 100k on them, so they were due. Genuine Delco's, not some trick of the week Vatozone plugs. Not bad tho. I haven't put much of any money in this and I got it 11 years ago. Dependable as hell, decent mileage and no balls.
