Default ORV Sticker Price

So, what is the price of ORV stickers going to be come March 31st? I was told like 30 bucks, but I want to confirm this. I just bought my 07 sticker for 16.25.

Its a pretty yellow. The DNR told us "Customers that purchase an ORV sticker before the price increase do not have to pay the difference" so I am guessing its going up to something, and I herd rumors it was going up to 30 bucks.

1) Stickers are NOT going up this year.

We desperately need them to, but the Bills failed to make it out of Committee before the close of last session. I say we 'need' them to go up for several reasons: The sticker price was set at 16.25 WAY back in 1994. If they had been allowed to follow the Consumer's Price Index (CPI), that would equate to around $25 in "today's" money. The DNR has been mandated by the legislature to increase the size of the orv trail/route system by an additional 25% (800 miles), but didn't allot any money to get it accomplished nor any money to maintain the additional miles. IF the program is to continue to operate as it has for the last 43 years, it must have an increase to support itself. If an increase is not passed this year, the program faces a $1,600,000 shortfall for 2012. This will surely cause a reduction in services across the board. Please keep in mind that the ORV Program is a self-supporting program. We do not get any money from the General fund nor the DNR. What we take in from sticker sales is what we get to spend on the improvement and management of the system.

2) The recreation passport license plates will NOT legally cover you when operating on an ORV Route that requires the use of 4wd by a stock vehicle. An ORV Sticker is still required for that. The passport is for entry into State Parks, etc.

then someone should tell this to walmart meijers kmart and other places that sell them cause like i said i went to go buy it and they rang it up at 35 and i repeat $35 dollars so basic what your saying is i have to pay to enter into the state park and pay to enter the mound and pay to get an orv sticker i mean damn hats alot of money just to go to one park when there are other parks that are not state run who get alot less traffic going through it than the state park ran orv parks and they manage to do pretty well maintaining their parks just fine so i think ill keep giving my money to them and michigan can keep their ORV sticker besides Bundy Hill, R&V, and a few other places dont need ORV stickers to go there so thats where Ill be.

When you look at the price breakdown it really makes sense. Besides it will help to get us 800 more miles of trails.
