Default Hotel rewards

I'm finding myself staying in hotels frequently. I don't typically stay in large metro areas and don't stay in high dollar hotels. Which company has a good rewards program and is national enough that I can find one most places? Who offers the best reawards programs? What kind of rewards are offered. I figure there are enough traveling people here I could get some good insight.

I stay out a couple nights a week, or at least used until recently. I have both the hamptons (Marriott I think) and holiday inn (ihg) and the holiday inns seem to accumulate useful points quicker for free stays. Best thing to do is find some corporate codes to use too. Saved me about $500 for the week in Moab.

When I travelled 1999-2006 I tried to stay in one chain as much as possible. I ended up with six continents which is Holiday Inn Express. I still have points from them we use one or twice a year for rewards nights. My personal credit card gets me points for dollars spent so that keeps the program active.

IHG and Marriott seem to be about the same, or close.

I like Marriott properties better, so when I can choose i choose those. Unfortunately 95% of the time the client is picking the hotel.
My go to (If available) is #1 Residence Inn, #2 Courtyard, and then fairfield Inn.

From Not using any marriott points the last few years I currently have enough points for 11 nights at a Hawaii resort if i decided.
Marriott bought Starwood last year which added a bunch of brands into their portfolio. Although the merger isn't 100% done quite yet, I believe it should be by the end of the year.

IHG are ok, and i'll take if there isn't a Marriott. Nothing wrong with them, and I have a branded credit card of theirs that keeps me at the highest tier every year non dependant on # of nights there.

I use IHG (Holiday Inn) Hilton (Hampton Inn), and Marriott most of the time.

If your company pays, use the apps to book and you can get 5k bonus points for an extra $5-10 sometimes, and then when you get up in rank you accumulate points even faster. I'm Spire Elite with Holiday Inn (IHG).

For my Midwest territory IHG is the most available, and I get about $1k back a year through the points program imn gift cards just from that property. I'd get more value from stays, but I spend so much time in hotel rooms that I don't want to stay in them when on vacation.

We try to use Marriott as much as possible. They do bonus deals for more points and can sometimes get a point status upgrade. I'm gold level but only have enough nights for silver. Gold status gets me free room upgrades, faster internet, and more points per stay. Any of the extended stay places you only get half points for.

I use ihg and choice hotels most of the choice hotels are shitty unless you stay in the comfort/quality suites but you can earn lots of gift cards with points and promotions
I ve only been to one town that doesn't have an ihg or choice hotel

I stayed at Marriott Livonia a couple weekends ago for a wedding. I was VERY disappointed. It was cheap as a blocked reservation room, but even at the cheap price, I'd have rather stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, or Best Western.

Drury is a great place, IMO, they just aren't everywhere.

iHG and Hilton have better reward programs imo. Marriott takes too long to accumulate points that are usefull.

Sign up with the rewards program at all of them, then use an unbranded card like a Chase Sapphire Reserve to book or at least pay for it.

I stay in hotels 4 nights a week. I stay at IHG Holiday Inns Express as much as possible which is 95% of time because the rewards program is the best like some mentioned above. I'm able to take the family on vacation and stay in hotels for free every summer. One example is we went to Disney Land last year and stayed in a hotel across the street from the park, 3 nights for free. They are slightly pricey, 80-120/night but at the same time, you don't have to worry about hookers and bed bugs. Price keeps the rifraf out.

I stay mainly at HIE, but have the rewards program for all of them.

Hampton Inn/Hilton has a good program as well, and are decent rooms. Hampton Inn often does not have an in-room fridge and microwave though.
