D35 aussie in a D30

Was told a Dana 35 locker would fit into the dana 30 of my TJ. Have heard of a couple people doing this. Im in the process of installing the locker and big part with teeth for the locker wont slide into the carrier. Its a very small amount and Im wondering if grinding the carrier is required? Whats the problem....

the one for the rear has to be able to accept c clip axles, the front doesn't need to, so they are actually different in that aspect but the other dimensions are the same

Ths makes me very happy!

I just bought an aussie for my turdy 5, when I go to an 8.8 some day I can remove fozzy in the d30 and install the aussie there with xj shafts.

Back to truss building!

The only problem I had was the carrie being to tight for the locker to fit in. I filed it down some and slipped her right in. Wheeled it at bundy Sat with NO Problems!! Now im thinking a truss too...

This is a common issue with the Aussie (even the "correct" D30 locker is a tight fit).

The one thing you have to watch is that the Dana 35 before 1993.5 is a larger journal side gear so it won't fit in the D30. After 1993.5 they made them the same size.

Ya feel like even with the right locker it would be a tight fit. Got her in tho!
