Dana 60 tj build

Broke axle


Bought kingpin ford 60, converted to 6 lug

Turning hubs


Compare


Redrilling the hubs. 2 holes overlap, but didn't seem to be an issue.


Did my own shaft work. Narrowed the long side 4.75" or something.


Splined it, was harder then I thought, literally.


Built a histeer arm too

Had to drill the lug holes on the rims out to 11/16ths. If I could go back in time I woulda ran 8 lug, so don't give me crap, I don't think theres something better about 6 lug. I was locked into a built 6 lug 9" rear and 6 lug beadlocks.
I also put the 1/2 ton chevy brakes on, nothing else seemed easy to fit under my 15" beadlocks. Made my own caliper brackets, total pita, shoulda spent the $129 on the pre-made ones.

I actually have it done, and drove it today but didn't take any pictures. heres a shot showing what it looks like resting in place

Its 64" or something. I ran the tie rod in the stock position but flipped on top, drag link runs to the arm I built.

I agree with you about the lug pattern. I had 5 lug wheels so I went that direction. To do it over, I would have left it 8 lug and bought new wheels.

My brakes were great before with all half ton stuff, and thats what I put back on, but they weren't to good. I figure mashing the piston in the master cylinder into a a area it normally didn't go plus no fluid prolly messed it up. I poked around online and got the dodge 2500 master cylinder, its huge compared to stock.
I made a new pushrod out of a 1/4 28x2" bolt, rounded the head off and threaded it in.
I tried to bolt the proportioning valve bracket back up but theres noway, I would have to make new lines, I just decided to make brackets to extend it.
It was pretty easy, took about 1/2 hour total to do, and it stops like right now!
