I went tall enough to clear the tires in all 4 corners incase i bottom out flexing to save the body. If i was gonna mud it and not plan to flex it much i wouldve went w stiffer springs & kept it a lil lower. It ended up being 14"s of lift in the front 13" rear but im in the middle of fabing a front bumper and then gonna start some rock sliders next. I just have to find a deal on a tubing bender first.

Well the maden voyage was partially successful. The steering steers like shit even with all new components and an alignment i have bump steer that will rip the wheel out of your hans but other than that it rides great. I ordered the teraflex high steer kit that'll be in on thursday this week. does any one else have any other ideas. I do have a good stabilizer on there now my issue right now seems to be to much angle on the drag link & to much flex in the linkage pieces

they appear to be almost parralel but i notice after i had someone turn the wheel for me that my steering would twist and load up when turning. my angle is almost 40 degrees on my draglink bc the truck has 14" of lift. So i ordered a high steer for it now & im hoping to get the drag link a little more leveled out then ill run a line on my track bar again to reset the height on the track bar. Its hard to judge by looking at it with out running a line from bolt to bolt on my track bar because the extended track bar is adjustable and is in an S shape.

Put a jb high steer on this weekend worked out nicely drives 10x better than before still have some slight bump steer. other than that no biggy it was an easy install and just need to make up some new sway bar brackets. And i need to get a 2" drop pitman instead of my 4" i have on it and that should put me perfectly parralell w the track bar and hopefully eliminate the last of the bump steer. Finally took it out & up to 55 and it def rides great no complaints there but i will most likely regear to 4.56's this fall. I'll just have to see how summer goes.

thinking about doing a 5.7 vortec not sure yet though trying to talk myself into it. I found alot of easy swap kits just need to find a decent 96-99 truck w motor to pull the ecm out of and the main engine harness for the extra 2 injector pins.

No need to get the ECM, you can use yours, just get it reprogrammed. Same with the harness, just have it modified to include two more injectors. If you happen up on a deal with the ECM and a harness, it may be cheaper that way, but don't let it be a show stopper.

There is a log of good swap into on ZR2USA.com. The 5.7 swap has been done many, many times now.

Yea ive been reading a few of those on there. I've done a few 5.7 swaps before with throttle body s-trucks but this will be my first w a vortec. I did see theres one that was really helpful the guy has step by step nice detailed pics and part numbers. I would just gear the hell out of my truck and run the 4.3 but i like to drive it to not just wheel it. So idk i'm kinda at a toss up.
