Default mid-life crisis

Howdy,

Just getting started with a daily driver Cherokee that I want to make "my own."

Cool to see lots of locals! I'm in Holly, very near I-75 and Grange Hall Road, Exit 101.

Hi Chuck, you don't have a relative in that area named Pete that's into Buggies (or used to be) do you?

Thanks, everyone, for the welcome!

Cookie, nope, I don't think so. Closest relatives by last name are in Sterling Heights or something like that.

I thought mid life crisises involved corvettes or BMW's. I didn't think Jeeps rated that high????

Default 'vette, BMW, or Jeep for mid life crisis?

Okay, here's a little more personal history...

In 1980, I ordered a CJ-7. I was single, 19, and in the Navy. When I talked to my agent about insurance she didn't even tell me the amount, but told me that the rates would be the same whether I bought a Corvette or the Jeep. I couldn't afford that...

I've wanted a Jeep ever since. Had a '75 CJ-5 that I acquired when my brother-in-law died. But it was too far gone for me. Frame was shot, body was shot, transfer case was shot. But I got it started and gave up when the block leaked coolant about as fast as I could pour it in.

When I couldn't buy the CJ-7 I bought a 1977 F-150 4x4, then I had an 1981 Chevy/Izusu Luv diesel 4x4, then a 1972 Chevy K20. My Uncle is finishing up a frame-off restore on that Chevy right now in Eastern Washington. Then we had kids and I was stuck in sedan/van/minivan purgatory for a couple of decades.

So, this time around, I got the Cherokee. More than you all wanted to know, but that's my story...

thats what slows most folks down. I have to say they come first or I would a bunch of toys for ME.

hope you get the Jeep pulled together the way you want it. sounds like you've waited quite some time for it.
