Default Another caravan question

Just put in a new motor, runs great. But I have no torque what so ever being delivered to the wheels. It's a 2005 with the 3.8
My question is if it has a safety switch that needs to be reset after a blown engine. I have no service manual.

Did you add any fluid to the trans?
You must use ATF3 or ATF4.
The wrong fluid can cause slipping.

I didn't touch the trans when i pulled the motor. I did pull the filter last night and going to replace this morning. The fluid was still full, but there was no slipping or movement at the tires what so ever. I jacked up the van and still no movement at the wheels.

It threw a rod out the block. I was jammed real tight. I had to break out the rest of the block to get the piston out in order to turn the main. I found a low milage trans in kalamazoo.

The sudden stop may have sheared the input shaft in the trans.
It would be easier to just swap the trans.

I went and picked one up today. Now I gotta figure out if I can get it out the bottom easy. Hoping to support the engine and drop the trans.

The trans will come out of the bottom easily. You most likely broke the pump gears installing the motor. Why didn't you buy a $100 pump and install it rather than buying a whole trans?

I thought about replacing the pump but if anything else got messed up then I would be in the same boat as now. I pick up a trans in K-zoo yesterday with 50k on it for a few hundred bucks. The van itself has 127k on it. Figured I was better off with a fresher one.

Thanks guys, the engine did fit through the top just had to remove the water pump. The trans did drop easy out the bottom, minus a bolt in the rear trans mount being cross threaded from the factory or from prior service being done. It does run and drive good now. So again thanks for the input.
