axles are finally in.

spydertrax housing in the front with ford super duty outers and chevy 1/2 ton brakes.

rear is a stock housing that is trussed and locked. with disc brakes

we ended up taking dodgeram rotors and opening up the center hole to allow them to slip over the hub.

Im using a stock nine inch case so in order to go 35 spline i had to get a spool from Lane automotive which i believe are the only people who make a 35 spline spool for the 2 smaller 9 inch cases. Problem was i ordered my front shafts using a different spool and the spline engagement area is in a completely different spot then the spool i ended up with so i had the wrong length shafts sent. We realized this Saturday night. I got the shafts to jason at PAC racing springs as he was Indiana bound first thing today. Jason dropped the shafts off at Branik Motorsports at 7 am today and they called me at 9 am to let me know the shafts were already on the brown truck headed back my way.

Tires rub horribly. So there is some trimming that needs done. but over all i think it will be ready to race Saturday at noon.

here is a pic from test driving it over the weekend.

they are not that more costly then building a junkyard 60 when you do it your self if you break it down and think about it

d50 for outer parts 150 bucks minus 40 bucks or so in scrap i took back
550 for a spyder trax housing
hub machining 150 dollars to make them 5 on 5.5 plus boring them for 35 spline
75 spyder trax inner axle seals

and then you add in the parts you are going to end up buying anyways

1000 chromoly axle shafts and joints
150 dollar spool
150 used carrier and gears
100 dollars for a gear install kit.
200 dollars for new brakes

Congrats Gilbert Brothers on a 1st place finish!
