Default 318 jeep xj project homebrew

well figured i would start a build thread. here is the link to see the start of this project. http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthr...=191991&page=2

since the last post i have worked on getting the inside of jeep wraped up. i made my own custom set of gauges using the stock jeep gauge location. installed a tach and a b&m megashifter. also made up brackets to relocate the powersteering pump up higher since on the vans/ pu and rc's the pump is down low because the gearbox is on outside of frame rail. today i started to part of the project i have been looking foward to, building a hood scoop. keep in mind i am not a body guy and have a small set of skills so go easy on me but i am happy with the results so far, what you guys think.

well got the fuel cell in and here is some pics. i will be making a plate for the bolts on the inside floor and after exhaust is ran i will make brackets to tie the fuel cell to unibody instead of only floor.

finally got some time to work on motor. installed cam and duel roller timing chain on. changed out valve seals in heads and put a high volume oil pump in. took some time to clean the motor and paint it. headers turned out really good.

just got back from junk yard. i cut a radiator crossmember from a 96 grand cherokee. it looks like the unibody rails are the same width so i am hoping to be able to run the taller grand cherokee radiator in the xj. see if this works if not then i will be having a 2 core made up with the v8 hose inlets in right place.

today i finished the wireharness, ran the netural safty switch, and tried to make wires in engine bay look as nice as possible. i also put seats back in and installed the new b&m mega shifter. i will be getting exhaust put on in the nwxt couple days then try to fire it up and break in cam. also raised the transmission crossmember up about an inch for more clearance and got the motor setting at a better angle. now im just down to unibody stiffiners, fuel lines and trans lines and figure out radiator. then she will be alive, here is some new pics of progress

thanks guys. i think with the little head polishing we did and the good cam and 2500 stall on that build trans it should be a fun toy. hopefully the jeep holds up though under the hp. i am going to stiffin the unibody up with this kit (http://www.hdoffroadengineering.com/collections/frontpage/products/xj-frame-stiffener-set) so hopefully it will hold up well.
