I was thinking about doing a 1911 too. Para makes a double stack .40 1911 that was originally designed to use the 10mm. A barrel and spring conversion is all thats needed. I just havent gotten around to buying parts yet.
Fuck para. Just get a sti, you have 4 grand right?

Thank you Sir. I was lucky enough to purchase the Marlin and sporterized Krag 1896 .30-40 from a non gun loving Uncle that inherited them from his very gun loving Uncle. My dad bought from him a octagon barrel single shot 1861 Ballard rifle. This Uncle kept them at my Grandparents house since he inherited them in 1972 I believe.

Ballard is the bottom of the two, top is 1878 Springfield.

I honestly can't tell. I went and looked at it and it is not marked. It has the Nov. 5 1861 patent date on it and J M Marlin New Haven Conn US. Barrel is octagonal, measure approx 26 inches, overall gun approx 44 inches. Looking at this link, It kind of narrows it down, but it appears they were chambered in about everything at one point.

I also spent the last hour looking for the paper I have that has it written down on, and can't find that either at this point.

You like the 2022? I don't think I've read a bad word about them from anyone. That, combined with the attractive pricing makes them seem like a winner.

love the 2022, very accurate out of the box, very bright sights from the factory. picked mine up with a laser for $400.00 it is my carry gun. no issues yet, about 500 rounds through it. just takes a little getting used to the double action pull.
