Default Daily Driver Feedback: Chevy Tracker/Suzuki Grand Vitara

Other than being a small, plain, girly SUV, any common issues on these with the 1999-2004 2.5L V6 and automatic trans?

Only rated at 19mpg highway, not very good for being so small and low powered.

Only considering because I can pick one up pretty cheap and need something to pile miles on.

I love mine. I have a 2.0L/auto 4x4 4 door and in mixed driving I get 24 in the winter and 26 in the summer. I'll be buying another one if/when this one takes a crap because it does everything I want it to and affordably.

The biggest issue with the 2.5/2.7/2.0 is the cam drive system. They are very picky and prone to fail in high mile engines.... like 50k miles, not 150k. Engines are getting harder to find and most are over a grand. When the chain or tensioner fails on these the pistons get very cozy with the valves. Instant destroyed engine.

the 2002 that we have only gets 18 mpg, not sure why but it does run great. fairly comfortable. it took me a while to get used to the tight steering but i like it. I would be in love if we had the 4wd version.
