Default Aussie Locker worn springs/pins?

My Aussie locker seems like it has been unlocking under load more and more lately. Is this a sign that it needs new springs/pins? The cross shaft is hardened. I should note that I bought it used. The cross shaft has alternating bolt holes and installed it so that the locker was hitting the "fresh" parts of the shaft- its only been in for 4 months roughly.. The shaft should last longer than that?

I just popped the cover off today thinking that I lost a spring, but everything looks good.

I did some searching, couldn't find anything that could tell me what i need, and see you can order new pins/springs but not sure if that is what I need.

Any input? Thanks

Maybe Im wrong but I think the springs help it stay disengaged, not help engage it. I had one in my 30 for a few years without any issues. I bought it used and used new springs and pins when I installed it.

Under load, the cross shaft should be keeping it locked, which to me says that the edges of the coupler/side gear teeth are worn and skipping over each other.

You could take it out and swap them side to side so that they have fresh edges.

I did email aussie and that is basically what they told me to do, however, It appears to be unlocking very easy going to the left and it wont unlock going to right This is from a setup that spec'ed out ok and has worked great for about 6 months for me.. Bent axle???

Could be a bent housing, as it's pretty hard to bend an inner axle shaft. Does it click at all while driving? (other than cornering)

Sorry was referring to the entire housing not the shaft it self, It does not click while driving straight, I double checked the air pressure in the tires and it is equal. It will open and miss teeth while pulling out to the left under power, but will not do it to the right, and it wont unlock pulling around in a parking lot going to the right.. It wasnt doing either of these until just about a week ago.

I did pull the cover off and give it a quick inspection, the locker teeth appeared fine, all the springs and pins are accounted for in good shape. I believe ill pull the cover again tommorrow and switch the locker around tho and inspect the cross pin, it is a hardened pin.

If that doesnt help I still have the original spider gears and am considering doing a "fozzy" style welded diff

I did email Aussie and talked to Bill He gave me some good insight... But here is what I found, and I believe this to be my problem, All the springs looked good, the center to center measurement was .160, I didn't remeasure the side side clearance. The teeth are very very chipped, the cross pin appeared to have normal wear but nothing crazy.. Since I did not buy this new I dont blame the Aussie locker its self. All the measurements in my install were within spec so I'm not sure what happened, I installed the original spiders slightly modified back in

Definately don't blame Aussie. Don't know how that happened but I had an Aussie in my HP44, I broke 12 shafts, 2 lock outs, and my 4.88 ring gear. Even after all that the teeth looked brand new and the only problem I had was replacing the springs and pins once in 4 years. If they made one I would run an Aussie in my dana 60 I have now. After having an Aussie I don't think you will be happy with a welded diff. Truck will push bad when turning and if you unlock one side it will pull HARD to the side that is locked. Just my opinion.
