Default 14 bolt disc conversion

Been reading about this conversion and wondering if there really is a big difference in braking or not? It shouldn't cost more than $200 when it's all said and done. Right now my blazer doesn't stop the best and now having the extra wait of a bbc, i believe it isn't gonna be any better. Just looking for some input.

i think it saves you like 70 pounds of wieght getting rid of the drums, im changing my 14bolt over to disks because everytime i get back from attica indiana i have pea gravel stuck in the drums, and its the worst sound in the world, the only way to get it out is to take it all apart, its a pain in the arse

Do it, why would stopping faster or even saving a few pounds even be a bad decision.

Remember to swap the proportioning valve.
(I've been afraid to emergency brake stop mine right now, It feels as if it wants to throw you through the windshield)

Some websites say you don't need to, but what valve should you get if you need to?
