Would it change if I said "part time" or "Minimum wage". Because most of the people I know (or that I'm talking about) are just starting out in life and don't have the experience in their field to get a job over all the other people looking for jobs. So they get 2 or 3 part time and/or minimum wage jobs to provide for their family. Most of them paying off student loans which can be pretty substantial. They are trying to make it. They don't draw $700 a month or anything.

Granted, student loans are thier choice. But they are trying to be responsible and pay them off. It's either that, or don't eat. My main point is that there are people that don't abuse the system. The majority do, but there are some that don't.

See, that's where I think the system is messed up. I know you don't get help if you make X amount of dollars. I'm there. trust me. Aid is temporary and I think that some people use it properly. I don't think there is one thing wrong with using it if you're using it intill you can afford food. Assuming you can get it.

Here's an example for everybody. Say I worked 3 part time jobs. One 25 hour, another 15 (both during the day), and then another 3 hours a night (15 hours a week) I'm making ends meat. But, I have no time to pursue a greater job, or schooling. If I quit my night time job that puts me below what I can afford. I've cut all the fat out. I don't turn the heat on, I take a shower once a week, ETC. There is NO where to get the money. But, if I quit my night job and go to school to get a better degree and use aid during that time. Am I a horrible person? I still work 40 hours a week does that make me Some Lazy, useless person? Because that's exactly what you guys are saying.

Thats why you keep looking for a better job while you work the ones youve got my parents did the same thing. I got my first job when i was 15 when I turned 16 i was working 2 jobs. Did that till my senior year of high school worked almost 3 years at a finish mill in Walker, MI. Saw what was happening in the Housing market left there, went to a trade school to be a mechanic worked 50 hours a week and went to school at night. Now work 50 plus so my daughter and I can do things while i pay of all my bills from going to school and from going to court with her mom.

Where are the families of these people? "They are just starting out" why are they on the government tit and not living with mom and dad until educated? They have children? if so why? Maybe because they have no fear of starving because they know the "tit" is out their for them to latch on to?

Where is the personal responsibility of these young people or their parents, church etc.

Enough with this idea that your problems become my problems whether I like it or not. They make poor choices and I have to pay for it? NO!!

Bad things happen to people and I understand that, I deserve to make the choice where my money goes, not a politician.
The whole idea of government aid is wrong and you don't seem to grasp that.

I don't give openly to charities but I give to specifics where it touches my heart. Example; a couple years ago a good friend's (active on this board) wife had breast cancer. After she was cleared as a survivor, they did the walk for a cure. I donated heavily to them. There is no one else that knows I donated other than the 2 of them and my wife. As far as I'm concerned, it's no one else's business.

People say they can't get a job. In most cases I consider that to be bullshit. Get off your ass and flip pizza's, then get a car and deliver them. Shovel snow, get a second job. Many people consider me to be very fortunate. I consider myself to be in a good position but not because anyone gave it to me. I earned it, busted my ass for it and was willing to handle the stress that it took to get where I'm at. I have days that are easy but in most cases, out of the 90+ people that work here, NO ONE wants my job when I deal with difficult issues.

Bottom line, our country has become a bunch of whiny bitches expecting handouts and we have people thinking the only solution is for the successful to give more. Sorry, but it won't be coming from me.
You have it right. The people of this country is and has been waiting for receiving and expecting handouts.
The democratic party is ready to get votes by giving the takers what they want and need.
We need to remove the idea that the government is here to support people.
People get used to hand outs and they tend to expect them. The more people get hand outs the longer the will be there to give em and scream when the want to take away programs to enable and prevent people to want to get off thier ass and get a job.
Entitlements are the problem in this country.

I agree that there are a group of people who need help. But, there is no way to pick them out of the line of users. I have no sympathy for an alcoholic who can't hold a job. Or a lazy pot smoker who milks the system. Or an unmarried woman who has multiple children from multiple fathers just to get government aid. We just sent a guy home for 2 days because he was running his machine at half speed. It got turned back up and he turned it down again. This is the same guy who had a major medical problem a couple years ago and the company kept him on the payroll for several months while he recovered. Ungrateful son of a bitch! I wanted to fire him but got talked out of it.

This is why it pisses me off that there are people out there who want to judge and tell me where my money should go. Fuck off! I'll choose where I want to donate my money based on my assessments.

One reason.... value of the dollar has dropped.

Your turn. Since there is more than one reason.

Yet another subject you will know shit about unless you google some sort of educated article written about it.

Why don't you start a thread about what is happening in the middle east and spreading around the world. Things are changing very fast, not much for the good, yet.

My thoughts on it is because of the Gov. pushing to get 30 mpg cars and trucks on the road witch means less gas being paid for. to make up the cost the prices when up..

Also electric cars going to be on the road.

God I hate to say it, but in a very very small way, I sorta agree with cockstar.

Think about it, everywhere we look there is "new" energy saving devvices. Lightbulbs, heaters, appliances, better windows, fuel efficient cars, etc.

As soon as you make some changes to lower your energy costs, the costs go up, and you're back paying the same amount.

I KNOW that isn't our only problem here. BUT I certainly think there may be SOME truth to cockstars theory.

Holy shit that hurts like hell, I think I just caught an STD from cockstar or something.

That theory may one day have merit, but not now. Those small items are having no effect right now.

Probably has more to do with demand and the cost of producing and buying energy. 84Scrambler, 'Mrs. 84Scrambler' and DuffMan are the local gurus of that subject.

Are they really dragging down society if they work hard and don't abuse the system? No. As long as the system is there, Which I don't think it should be (as I've as said multiple times), then people that don't abuse it can use it.

I'm not getting into this agian. I've gone round and round with Kickstand and if you really want to get into it just re read the thread.

Here's what people "Just getting started" are dealing with. Thousands, if not millions, of skilled and/or qualified workers get laid off. People that have been working for 20 years in the same field. Those people, out of realization they have to pay bills, take the entry level jobs in the fields they where in, some just entry level jobs in any field they can get into. That leaves the fresh out of college students SOL because they can't possibly compete with someone with 20 years of experience.
