I've got to agree with Stan and Kickstand. Our country and economy are a result of our society expecting handouts and those expecting handouts just assume because a person has a job that they have more to give. I don't give openly to charities but I give to specifics where it touches my heart. Example; a couple years ago a good friend's (active on this board) wife had breast cancer. After she was cleared as a survivor, they did the walk for a cure. I donated heavily to them. There is no one else that knows I donated other than the 2 of them and my wife. As far as I'm concerned, it's no one else's business.

People say they can't get a job. In most cases I consider that to be bullshit. Get off your ass and flip pizza's, then get a car and deliver them. Shovel snow, get a second job. Many people consider me to be very fortunate. I consider myself to be in a good position but not because anyone gave it to me. I earned it, busted my ass for it and was willing to handle the stress that it took to get where I'm at. I have days that are easy but in most cases, out of the 90+ people that work here, NO ONE wants my job when I deal with difficult issues.

Bottom line, our country has become a bunch of whiny bitches expecting handouts and we have people thinking the only solution is for the successful to give more. Sorry, but it won't be coming from me.

From what ive read on here it seems some people think that every one else should help people who didnt think things through. They try to say that some people are out there working 2 to 3 jobs and cant get by. Well there are reasons behind that. I worked 2 part time jobs in High school up till my senior year, worked 50 hours plus a week once i graduated, and worked 50 plus a week and went to a trade school to get to where im at. Does that make me and ass whole for not wanting to just give my stuff up to help some one who could get a job but chooses to sit on their ass and take things for free?

No, it makes you a hard worker. Now if you could improve your spelling you would be Stan's hero.

Instead I continued to work my ass off, cut all the unnecessary bullshit out and worked hard.

From the outside I'd venture to say that 99% of my friends didn't know I was flat out broke and in danger of losing everything i owned. 3 years later I am back on my feet, working, own a home and am saving towards my future.

Not sitting around on my fucking EBT.
I'm glad you could succeed. Good for you. I'm in the "Work my Ass of cut unnecessary BS out" stage of that whole thing. I don't expect someone to give me money. I work for it. BUT, I also realize that there are some people that can't. VERY FEW people that can't. Those people I feel compassion for. I don't clump every body using aid into the same category. I also don't assume everybody can be successful like you.

I don't think giving out more handouts is the answer but there are people that need help and that use the (albeit crappy system) to try and make ends meat. Most of the ones I know are working 2 or 3 jobs and, if they can, go to school to better them selves. They aren't just mindless couch potatos who want a free ride.

That's my main issue with most of the attitudes on here. Not every person on EBT is lazy and useless. There are a few that actually use it the way it should be and don't abuse it. The second they can manage with out it, they do. Most of the time they don't even use the full amount a month.

This is the part no one is believing. You don't work 3 jobs and NEED government handouts. How many kids do these people have, 10?

You're blinded by your feel good philosophy. Or so it seems.

L4CX the problem with that is if you make any money you dont get help trust me I know. I tried to get help when I was going through court for my daughter and all any one told me was I made to much money. At that time I was making 9.50 an Hour paying rent, school loans, and other bills while trying to by food. The only way I got any help was when my daughters mom lived with me and was not working. The only help i got was from my family and no one else.
