Default Dana 44 and Dana 60 question

I have a 93 YJ I want to put either a 44 or a 60 in the front. It will be spring under. What will fit for both as far as ford or dodge and what years. Thanks

Best fit SOA is 78-79 Ford F-250 or 350 44 or 60

SUA might want to do a Full size Jeep 80+ for driver drop 44

Dana 60 you will have to grind the shit out of the 78-79 Ford 60 to fit a SUA pad as no front 60 ever came SUA

What is your reasoning for "either" a D44 or D60? You really need to know what you are going to be doing with it and what size tires you will be running.

X2
these 2 axles have a big difference in strength and price.

Yeah I realize this. Im running 39.5 irocs, i would love to put a 60 up front but thats more than I want to spend right now. So I was thinking doing a 44 front 60 rear for now then redo the front down the road.

What info Im looking for is what axles will go under the front of a leaf spring yj? Thanks and have a great day

Any axle will fit. Just depends on what fabrication skills you have.

If you are running 39.5's you are wasting your time putting in a D44. The weak link is the axle shaft joint and they are the same size on a D30 and a D44. No difference, Nada. Save your money and do it right the first time.

Ask me how I know this.................

I realize the joints r the same and a 44 is only a small step up from a 30. I figure I will get a full width 44 under the front and a 60 or 14 under the rear for now and leave the front open. Later on do the 60 front since I will then have more stuff ready and already have my rims. I am pretty capable of putting the axles in just wondering what my best options are for a HP 44 front besides the obvious 78-79 ford.

Im not disagreeing with you guys at all. I know that you have way more knowledge and experience with this issue than I do. I would love to do a 60 now. but its just not gonna happen for a few months. I have to get my 30 and 8.8 out for now and get something better in there before the dog party and the chili run. I realize im making way more work but that doesnt bother me I enjoy that part of it. I would rather bust a few shafts or joints that explode another 30.
I guess from ur guys perspective It might sound stupid what i want to do, but it my best option for now. Thanks
