Default GM tilt column tumbler won't cycle

I just put rebuilt the 4.3l in my 94 Jimmy. Initial firing went well but I couldn't get the tumbler to turn off. I had to pull the coil wire.
After several attempts it finally cycled...shot some WD40 in and around, seemed like it was fine. Last night it stuck in run position again and now won't return no matter how much force I put on it. The rod to the ign swch is not binding. Any ideas? I hate to have to pull the steering column.
Thanks

Your going to need a new lock and tumbler. Their about $15-$20. Gotta pull the steering wheel off and remove the hold down screw and it'll slide right out.
