Feeler - 88 XJ or 99 XJ - SOLD THE 99!
Here's the deal. I am trying to decide which one to keep and which one to sell. I really don't need 2. I am going to post them both and see if anyone is interested in either.
The first one is a '99 XJ.
- 4.0 with auto
- Dana 30 and Chrysler 8.25
- TJ gambler wheels with goodyear 237/75 tires
- Pioneer CD
- Everything else is stock
- Extremely clean!!!
- One tiny rust spot above drivers side rain gutter (No rust any where else even under carpet!!)
- AC and Heat work great
- Power windows and locks
- Cruise control
- Runs/Drives great!!
- Very nice truck (Probably one of the nicest around)
- Does not come with the lights that are pictured on the front bumper
The second one is an '88 XJ
- 235K on truck, 17K on Reman engine and rebuilt trans
- 4x4 (Works good!)
- 4.0 with auto
- Dana 30 and 35
- Power locks and windows
- Runs good
- TJ Canyon wheels (Brand New 31 Cooper STT not pictured) But if I sold this one I would like to keep these wheels and sell this with the Gamblers on from the '99
- This truck came from NC a couple of months ago (There is no rust anywhere!!) Very solid truck!! The panels are really straight as well
- 3" RC lift
- Optima Red top battery
- New Water pump, thermostat, belt, battery cables, JKS adj track bar
- Needs paint. It is really faded from being in the sun
- Interior is in pretty good shape
- Needs windshield washer motor and reservoir (found one for $35 just have not gotten it yet)
- The tape on the window in the picture is gone (I replaced the window regulator and motor)
- $2,800 with the gambler wheels and tires from the '99

I am pretty picky when it comes to things being clean and rust free. The rockers had very VERY small specs of surface rust, also a little under the door sill plates. I sanded the rust spots down to metal and hit it with an acid etch spray, roughed up the rest of the areas I was going to spray then primer and then a couple of coats of duplicolor bedliner. The rust is gone and the bedliner adds more protection from rock chips and such. The bedliner also goes all the way under the sills for protection from boots hitting against them getting in and out. I replaced the rusted screws that hold down the sills with stainless ones.
I had the transfer case rattle and did the service bulletin upgrade to the new bushing. When doing this you need to pull the carpet up to get at 4 screws on the side of the transmission tunnel. When I pulled the carpet up there was no rust there either.
Like I said in the write up. There is a small patch of surface rust starting to come in on the roof by the top of the A-pillar by the drip rail. I have not been able to get that cleaned up since it has been so cold and I don't want to try and paint in these temperatures.
