Default SOLD 1983 "ish" Toyota Trail Truck or Daily Driver Project $1300

Anybody interested in this?
I want to sell my 3 year project to fund my New CJ5 Project.
I started with a rusted in half 1983 flatbed Toyota from an Indiana horse farm.
Then a buddy and me fabricated a "new" frame using the front half of a 1985 frame and some box tubing. To the 1983 cab we grafted in the floor of the 1985 so that it would bolt to the frame. We then fabricated a 6 point cage using 1 3/4" x 0.120 tubing. I stripped off as much of the emissions and unecessary wiring, including the dash (See Photo)

Engine: 22R
Trans: 5 speed
T-Case: Front shift Toyota
Leaf Sprung Solid axle (Front and Rear)
12" travel RS5000 shocks with Ford shock towers in front.
6 point cage
1 set of Nice aluminum wheels with 3 33" bald BFG Muds, 1 good 32 BFG AT.
1 set of White wagon wheels with cracked all season tires.
Stock Fuel Tank Moved to rear to improve ground clearance.
Black Plastic Tool Box
Heater/defroster works/
Has Michigan Title and other than the minor light issues, should be street legal.

I was able to get the brake lights, rear blinkers and high beam headlights to work other than that it needs a little more help.

Since getting it together this summer, I was able to take it to Bundy Hill for a shakedown run and it drove for 4 hours without issue. On the way back to the parking lot, I ripped the sidewall out of one of the bald 33's and sheared a center pin out of one of the spring packs. Its all fixed now. but that same weekend is when I bought my new project CJ-5.

Now I'm looking to get $1300, Partial trades would be CJ5 suspension, or any axles better than the Dana 30/Model 20 that are under my jeep now. (Example Dana44) Nothing too wide.

Thank you,
Stuart Cotey
Parma, MI

I'll try to answer your questions.
1. Rust, yeah there is some rust. it is a 1983 from the midwest so I think its better than most you will see around here. The pinch welds at the bottoms of the doors are split, but everything still holds together. The photos show exactly what it looks like. Another cool mod I did was to replace the rocker panals with 2.5 x 2.5 box tubing. (I built it to use as a rock rail.) I haven't touched the paint for the cab. Looks like someone tried to paint the truck a long time ago. The inside floor, complete frame and rear half of the cage were sprayed with Rust converter. Some light surface rust is on these parts, but the steel I used (rear frame and cage) was at least .125 wall so with some black rustoleum you should be good to go.

2. Heater works good, although the controls are only Zip tied in place.

3. Street legal, well that depends. I was planning on driving it as a daily driver, so other than the low beam lights and the front blinkers, I believe it is street legal. Drivetrainb wise it is stock toyota.
Open Diffs, 4.10 gears 5 speed.
Let me know if you want to come see it.

I would also take partial trades of 33 inch mud terrains and nice aluminum wheels that fit the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. (Jeep CJ, Ford F150 etc.) Looking for deep dish.

BTW: Yesterday my wife had a Baby Boy. Would be great to get this out of my yard. I am willing to losten to offers.

Thanks.

bump with benifits.

FYI: 2 sets of wheels go with the Toyota.
4 aluminum, 4 steel. Tires are pretty bald, all but 1 of 8 holds air.

Lowered price. Included more pictures showing where the 1985 floor was grafted into the 1983 cab. Also included pics of one of the cage to frame mounts and where the 1985 frame was grafted onto the box steel frame that we fabricated.
Thanks for looking.

Sorry. The point of selling my Toyota is to put money in my stock CJ5.

Your rig looks like a lot of fun, good luck with your sale.

FYI: For Trades I really need 33" mud terrains (70% or better) and aluminum wheels for my 1983 CJ5. Also maybe a 2.5 or 4 inch suspension lift.

Still for sale.
Anyone interested?
Could split it up if someone wanted Engine/Trans/T-case. See my add in the parts section. "Toyota Cab, Cage, 22r, 5-speed, T-case $600"

Also willing to trade the whole thing for some good aggressive mud tires (33") with nice aluminum wheels + $ depending on the tires.
