Default The Greatest Man In History

The greatest man in history, Jesus, He had no servents, yet they called Him Master, had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher, had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer, had no army, yet kings feared Him, won no military battles, yet He conquered the world, comitted no crime, yet they crucified Him.... He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Jesus is the reason for this season.
Merry Christmas Everybody.

IB4thesin-icks.

Aside from the people coming in and saying "Christ wasn't born on the 25th" . Here's some things to chew on.

<Sorry bout the Hijack Aber>

Louie Giglio (Sp?) Has a Video about Christmas called "The twelve words of Christmas". He is the leader of the passion conferences that are primarily aimed at College students.

- Although in the bible the last prophet and coming of Christ are only 2 or 3 pages apart, There was actually somewhere around 400 years of "God not speaking to his people". No prophets. That means your Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather may have heard from a Prophet. That's pretty huge.

- God did not decide to break the silence with a huge enterance of trumpets but rather a humble mother surrounded in Scandle. Also, God used a Women (in a time when women were thought of as property) to bring in the Savior of the world. Why would a Writer who was making this up add that in a Time when it would not have been accepted well?

- The First noise that God made to break that silence was the sound of a Human baby Crying. No commands, No Brimestone. Crying.

- Even before he could eat solid food Jesus was hunted for being who he was.

- I got nothing more. Weather or not the actual reason for "this" season was Christ or not. It is when Christians Celebrate his birth. I look forward to this year specficially because I can, hopefully, identify with Joseph a bit more because my wife is Pregnant with our first child. Not only Joseph but also, as I grow to love this child, realize the sacrifice that God had to go through to get back to us.

Merry Christmas Everybody, Chronologically or not, Christ is the reason for Our Celebration!

Chirstmas is a religious holiday and I respect that. I don't follow the religious part of Christmas but I do enjoy the family aspects.

Very much agreed. But I do find myself interested about the religious aspect of the holiday.

Hyjack away Scott, I have no problem with your input on this matter.
I thought your earlier post had a hint of baby on the way, congrats are in order brother. When is little Scott due?

As for your points about the greatest man to come into our world still does amaze me. In our thinking we would expect one of His stature to come and conquer and rule. He did not. The creator of this universe humbled Himself and became man and died for our sins.
Think of it this way... a father(for the dads out there) would allow your son to die for all of mankind so that all would have a life with Him.
As a non believer it is hard to understand but that is were doing your homework and investigate these claims and not disreguard as fairy tales.
As a defence attorny does they look for truth before they go to court.

Around June 23. We have a while. We, however, figure out how many on the 29th of December. That's my Christmas Gift for the year. We're praying for only one but will gladly accept the blessing of two.

I would hope this thread could be a Good way for people to understand the rich tradition of a Christian Christmas. From a group of Christians. Unfortunately, I don't think it will.

Seriously though, I appreciate your devotion to your faith. As much as you hate people "Shoving Thier faith in your face" You sure do it alot to other people. And yes, It is a faith. You have the belief that there is no God. You don't have any proof there isn't. Or maybe I should say you don't have any more proof of his Non-existence as I do his Existence (barring personal Experience of course). You just think you're right because what you believe is based in Logic. Logic that is limited to sight only. I use that logic but am open minded enough to realize there are things in this world we can't see or explain.

Christmas has ZERO basis in Christian religion.

It's a old Pagan holiday..

That was stolen from them and twisted to be something it's not and never was..

It wasnt stolen. It was used to make the conversion smoother from pagan to christianity and stuck.

Fixed it for you. Don't feel too bad though. It's been retwisted and turned into something completely different. A holiday to Celebrate Materialism.

Plus, This thread explains why we, as Christians, celebrate the birth of Christ during Christmas time.
