Default D44 & GM 12 Bolt in a YJ?

I am starting from the frame up and axles are my next step in the plan. Would a D44 and a GM 12 Bolt work? Any negatives?

I ran that set up in my yj for about 4-5 years locked front and rear with 37s first few years only ran in sand and light mud no problem, started playing on the rocks and could not keep front shafts in it. Oh have a 350 sbc.
