make up your mind dude. of course you liked the course. you were in the smaller tired class. But last year when this race was introduced there WAS rocks and some harder obstacles to run. So saying its unfair to change the course makes no sense. this isnt nascar cause nascar fucking sucks.

it just sounds like some people were expecting it to have more challenging obstacles like it did last year. I wasnt there and thats why ive had so many questions about the race so i can plan for june when i will be there. whether its just dirt and woods or rocks im going to be ready with bells on.
i agree i should have chosen my words better and that is why i added that to the end of the post. these guys and gals have done more comps than me and i know they can drive i'e watched and seen. not wanting to piss anyone off so i do apologize.
i agree nascar sucks i was just referencing as an example of how the tracks don't change at each different track. i was expecting the same as last year as well and glad they came up with a smaller class and a doable ENDURANCE race. this was a VERY well thought out course your on your toes at all times never a dull moment and my hats off to the people who make it happen.

The Trail Master Challenge is a fast technical race, your right in saying it is not the rock crawl tour or the extreme truck challenge. In my opinion, mud running is too expensive and I don't have 40k to spend on a motor, rock crawling is technical but slow, also expensive, I think you guys (twisted trails) has something nice here, something that doesn't take an expensive rig to compete in. Just look at oddfirecj5, he took second with that chewed up Cherokee rasin. Change it up, leave it the same, you will have people voicing their opinion either way.
However a shotgun start would be fun.

you didn't see me complaining when i entered my grand cherokee at drummond last year and i still placed 5th for that one day and made it up the bonus climb and got 8th place over all with my little 33 inch tires and STOCK rig. LEARN HOW TO FING DRIVE YOUR RIG! or don't be scared to hit a tree or two. or in my case rolled a time or two.
for what it's worth the course should not change because of the prizes that are at the end of the 4 races for those who place in the top at all the races. that is only fair for those that are in for the long haul. nascar doesn't change mis track everytime they race there. if the big boys want rocks that is fine, but put the little guys first for their own 4 hour race because i see lots of back ups where it's going to be hard (i.e winching, breakdowns) that is where the bottle neck will be and we little guys will be sitting there waiting for a chance to get around and continue racing. i understand you cannot please everyone and that is why there are other comps out there ( rock crawl, mud running, king of hammers etc.)
this is one of the best things out there right now. you watch in the next few years this could be huge. the best thing about this is the people who come to twisted to do regular wheeling will see they too can do these races. that is why i run mine so more people with stock rigs will do this sort of stuff and when you break you can go right to the u-pull it and get parts.
i just want to make this clear i'm not saying you guys can't drive because i've watched a lot of you do awesome driving.
Really, I have a single purpose rig? Ok. I've done the rock crawl events, I've done the Extreme Truck Challenge, I too prefer a 4 hour long race rather than waiting an hour or more to get in my 15 minute run. All I'm saying is that I would like to see some rock obstacles somewhere in the 7 mile long course that tests every aspect of your rig and your driving skills. I like the high speed twisty tight trails. I like rock. I like mud. I like everything about wheeling which is why I've entered every comp that I've been able to. I'm simply giving my opinion on what I think would make the event a little better. From a spectator point of view, I do not think it was a good event to watch. In fact I only saw a couple dozen people there watching. Do you remember how many people were watching at the other events? At KOH how much of a croud is there at the desert sections versus the rock sections?

If more people want it the way it was then my opinion doesn't mean much. I'm sure they like feedback to make it the best possible to please the most amount of people. If I'm in the minority that wants a few rocks thrown in, then I'll deal with it.

Each to his own...... But, I agree with some diversity like the first race, test all aspects, some speed, some mud, twisity tree ridden areas(killed me) and ROCKS. I was at KOH and yes thousands gathered at the back door (rock climb) to watch carnaige, no one to speak of was watching the high speed desert. Spectators like excitement, rollovers and carnaige. This should be part or racing........ITS NOT TRAIL RIDING....its a competition.....trail riding is for famileis and kids to ride along.

It's my belief that the comps need to draw spectators, if not, then the drivers end up paying for the cost just as we did at this last one and the payout will reflect that. Racing shouldn't make money of off the drivers! Well known comps have guaranteed prizes/payout (usually 100% payback) regardless of driver turnout or spectator turnout. If done well they advertise and draw a crowd year after year. I think twisted trails have run some great comps, I just hope they continue to take input to improve these things. It was a beautiful day without many spectators....why? .....anyway...

Thanks to TT for putting this on it was fun...just not sure if its for me....maybe next time my sisiter and her Subaru can run in my place

P.S. i can find trees to hit anywhere and farmers fields to go fast....its the rocks and hills i personally enjoy and am willing to travel for....again thats just me

Add some rocks/hard shit like is in that bowl area. Make an alternate route and assess a penalty for taking it and a bonus for making it.

i talked to dale yesterday about all these subjects.he will never be able to please everyone.they have a great thing going and it can get real big. there is things that need to be done that will be.making it harder? well i am sure he will throw some different obstacles in for the june race.just about everyone broke something out of 32 rigs..so if it is made too hard nobody will finish. so he has to find the sweet spot for everyone...he will do his best.
the timing is being taken care of. a motocross like start is not going to happen. because it will turn into a crash up derby the first lap and cause fights and some big ego's...
i am going to talk to him more the next couple days and figure some more stuff out...bottom line is they will never please everyone. it is a race.

i personally like the idea of making each race in the 4 race series a different kind of race so everyone has a chance. This first one was fast and tight. Next one more technical and slow with rocks and climbs, next one after maybe a big mud pit thrown in. Last one could be where driver and co driver have to switch positions every lap or a variation of previous races. That way everyone has what they want at least once and its a good equalizer. Either way it was awesome and the tt crew did a great job as usual

You just wanna drive my truck dont you

I agree with the idea of changing the course every time. Would be boring doing same course every time. Rocks would be cool, but like said above no fun if no one last the 4 hours, but do need something for people to watch. Adding more hill climbs might be the happy middle, gives some more challenge but yet not overly hard. Either way the tt guys do a great job with all there events and ill be there no matter what the course is like.

The only complaint I have is their needs to be at less two area's that will give the spectator's a good show to make them come back time and time again other than that as a co-driver I had fun!

First i would like to thank my spotter Davey. He did a great job of holding on and pointing which way to go. Thanks Dave!
Throwing the idea around of jumping up to the 35" and over class, now that I have this racing shit figured out. Bigger class=bigger $$, and that what it seems to be about.
Longer bump stops and I'm back in, along with a radiator and a leaf spring, some pulleys. A little over 4 weeks until the race, already found a leaf spring, a lead on a radiator and a pulley. I'll have to see though, funds are pretty low.
