Gotta dig up the old driveway shots I guess.

So, on to my first jeep. I started out with a 1955 Willies. (first year they made the CJ5) Started this project in 1979 & finished it for Onion Run 1980.

Did a body off, SOA and installed a 1966 283 Chevy, Muncie Rock Crusher 4spd, Lakewood blowproof bellhousing and then used the stock t-case and axles. Front was a Dana 25, 5.38 gears welded, rear was a D44, 5.38 gears welded. YEAH, I KNOW. First edition of tires were 36" Ground Hawgs. Also had a Ramsey 8000 PTO tucked under the rear.

Then I did a full fiberglass body and a full cage.

And then we went wheeling. Total project was 15 months from the time I brought it home (actually to my dad's) to the time I drove it. I don't have a pic but the first run was actually Onion Run. This pic is at Hamlin Road.

This run was in the Thumb somewhere. I was the only one to get through the hole, winched all the other guys but broke my winch cable on this guy. So we called in the big gun. Note, if any of you have ever seen the spare chunk of winch cable that I keep in my trailer, it was the piece of cable that broke at this time.

picture of your Truck was taken at the Car show, at the YMCA, on South Airport in Traverse city........ Right ????

I don't know. It was still white the last time I saw it. Julie Nance sent me that pic after I sold it.

I only scanned one pic. There are actually 2 that go side by side. (you know, back in the dark ages we didn't have panoramic photographs) I think there were actually 12 or 13 stuck at one time.

dry lake beds t.q. run

this is what happens back in the 80s when you blow your motor up in your jeep on the trail the 1st day of a wheeling trip. you find a gremlin for sale on side of road. buy it pull motor and install at campground in a random barn so you can go muddin the next day again.
