Default Halo Warthog Rear Steer

I've been over on another site (405th.com) and have come across an interesting thread. The 405th is an Halo Armor prop building site. Mostly Armor, but some people go farther. This is the case. A Guy is trying to build a complete, 4x4, fully functioning Warthog. Well, Minus the real guns.

The guy is talking about using rear steer and said all you have to do is 'flip' the axle and then get different gears in the Diff. I always though you had to cut the donor Axle housing and rotate the whole outer part of the axle 180, then change the gears. He says no. All you have to do is make new places for Spring perches/Shock mounts. This seams wrong to me. Anybody want to shed some light on the subject.

Posts 350 and 351. Maybe I'm just bored. I'm not sure. My SN on that board is Novabombscottie and the good news is I don't even have any pictures of my dirty apartment in it.

Yes the builder is wrong, goodluck telling him otherwise, he obviously has no idea.

reverse cut is NOT reversed driven gears, just tell him to make sure he has it in 4wd when he first tries.

BTW you have now addicted my 14 yr old son to his first Mark VI helmet build, if he does it well enough we'll glass and finish it.

Thanks Guys. I thought I was right-er in this. Now I have to decide if I'm going to start arguing with him or not.

Atvextreme - You're welcome. It is fun to do. I haven't gotten to the Glassing step yet. I may go with EVA foam instead.

all that is needed is to take a front axle, turn it around so the pinion faces forward, and make the suspension fit. no special gears. no flipping.

if you flip the axle, the rear tires will spin the other direction than the front.
