My understanding for my motor (5.3) is the stock exhaust is a single 2.56" ID exhaust.

I'm thinking 2.25" per cylinder bank, merge into a 3" pipe. I have some of the stock downpipes on the manifolds, I'll check them, maybe 2.5 is more appropriate..

So, what would you recommend? Also, do you have them going all the way out or dumped underneath the tub?
thanks

Pretty similar to my plan, what are you thinking for a muffler? Are going to build your own exhaust? I might see if the exhaust shop can sneak 2.5 in though.
thanks

This is exactly what I plan to do. I don't want it all the way to the back , just one more thing to get caught up on or rip off. Pretty set on Spintech super pro street 6000.

Yeah, yours is about what I was thinking of. Dumping under the tub gets old. Especially loud as hell when you are in water. Get a bit of a tailpipe out the back and it channels the sound away.

Not going to feel any difference in power adding a few bends.

This is the series i'm looking at. http://www.spintechmufflers.com/muff...es/cat_23.html

Now, the flanges that came with my headers have 2 1/4 inch pipe on them.......so that's all fine, but would you go center/center...center/offset...side/side????? And why?

thoughts?

depends how you route it to fit it tightly under the jeep and where your dumping it out at. The offset vs the Center outlets I wanna say are design sound wise and flow differently so depends on tastes for that as well.

Dumping it down right after the skid. However, after sending the stats over to Kevin, these are going to be to long. The 9000 series is too damn loud, so on I search.

Magnaflows are too big as well......flowmasters i've been getting pm'd not to use because they again are loud as hell.

*sigh*

With a big v8 its gonna be loud because you don't have room for a big muffler. you can hush it a bit, but everyone i have seen, when you skinny pedal it the motor is gonna talk

$.02

I run a pair of cherry bomb turbos on my TJ because they were the smallest I could find. They were cheap, too.

I agree. The extra pipe back to the rear helps reduce the rumble a lot. I've also found that you will smell the exhaust a lot more when it dumps underneath.

Can't be any worse then my deisel with straight pipe right????

Ok, so the 9000 series small size is perfect, may be a little noisier, but after combing thru pages and pages of mufflers this is still what I like, will fit and is affordable.

So again i ask, center or offset? And whats the difference other then placement? Also, just because the tube coming off the flange is 2 1/4, does that mean i want the 2 1/4 muffler?????

the difference in the offset, single to duel and center is in the Chambers of the mufflers. If check out Flowmasters site here can see what I mean by chambers and they even have the sound testing as well, if you haven't checked that out. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/index.php?cat=1

could always just run a baffle on the end of the tail pipe.
