Default Just when guns and ammo have become plentyful again...

Obama chooses his new ATF director. An anti-gun nut.

Don't think that is due to a lack of desire for such legislation by those in office.

It is because you are guaranteed your rights to bear arms in the constitution. Stop worrying..no one is taking your guns away.

True - but they can tax the hell out of owning gun and buying ammo to the point no one can afford it. How about a permit to own a gun that needs to be renewed every year for a fee - think that is crazy? it is on the books in Chicago.

Absolutely, but we do need to be vigilant to keep another assault weapons ban from being put in place. More importantly, the ban on high capacity magazines.
I'm not concerned at the present time, especially with the supreme court rulings on Heller, and McDonald, but it is something to keep an eye on.
Much of the 1968 gun control act is written very poorly, and having someone in charge of the BATFE who is an anti could make owning certain firearms more difficult, based on a different interpretation of the law.

DC is probably the worst for this. It's not pretty.

This is a horrible argument! Sure you have the right to bear arms, but how many? what kind? how much will it cost you? do you have the right to ammo? Where can you keep those arms? How many bullets can it hold? what caliber of gun? There is so much grey area that can be interpreted many ways.

None of that is in the constitution is it? So that is all up to interpetation. This is basically determined by our three legislative branches of the government at any given time.

Yeah the interpretation is the important part. Up until recently some areas of the country were interpreted that no one could have hand guns. Just because the constitution says the right to bear arms doesn't mean politicians can't stand in the way.

Just because it is in the constitution doesn't mean you have to stop worrying.
