Ok, since it appears my trans to shitting out on me, reverse is going bad now. I have another c6 that had a bad front seal and the torque converter was grooved causing the seal to leak I think. I am gonna just replace the seals and run it, but in the mean time I want to build a back up. What are my options? Would it be worth building something other than a c6?

At this point a trans swap from a c6 will mean relocation of crossmember and new driveshafts along with possibly altering the floor of the cab more then you already have as pretty much another auto will most likely be longer.

aod, aode, 4r70w, e4od, c4......c4 would be the only option similar in length over all, the other three would give you overdrive. Ont the upside a longer trans would give you a longer front driveshaft.

I would stick with the C6, should be bulit proof once built right. I love C4's and run one in my almost 650+hp stang but I am not sure how they handle 40" tires and Kyle's driving

I say stick with c6 if u dont want overdrive or all the relocation work to put any other trans. C6 parts are pretty cheap, easy to find and lots and lots of aftermarket upgrades, to help handle bigger meats, higher hp..etc .
Just my .02

Would be good for kyle to have OD since he enjoys the skinny pedal from what I hear, speed is the key..Right?

Lol. OD would be nice haha , 3rd gear runs out quick.

Ok, c6 it is. What about a stall converter? What would be good foroff road? Seems like it will bog off idle and a stall would help that when I hoot on it. Not that I have even ever gone wot, or ever plan on it .....

IF u do a stall converter..its kinda hard to rock crawl..u rock race, and slow rolling offroad I would recommend a big cooler..
My th350 has 3000 stahl converter, workz ok except..slow going. Makes it hard to feather the go pedal..
But if you choose a smaller stahl youd be pretty happy, 1500-2500 is how id do it if I did it again. Except the Coan was high $..so I wont be changing it soon..

Im racking up the pennies here..lol..

Dont get me wrong u can crawl with a stahl converter, stuff gets oober hot, oober fast..so higher rpm is better, but that means faster. Nothing new for u though..

I believe that the stock stall speed of a c6 converter is around 1600-1800 rpm.

I would also stay lower stall, something 2000-2400 I think would be a good compromise.

Id keep the stall around stock, like said high stalls arent great for crawling and produce lots of heat real fast.
I think you would like to have an OD though going fast is fun, im glad i have OD.
If your looking for a place to have the tranny built i would give cars high performance a call they did my tranny and i was very happy with it good price good customer service and good quality work. heres the number if you wanna try em. 248 682 3840

Can always just have your stocker rebuilt also. This is what i hade done with my 4R70W cost $155 and they bumped the stall right about 1900-2000.

i run the c4 in mine. my converter is lower than stock, i had it built that way. it keeps the temps down and the trans shifts a little smoother.
once its in low range you can not even tell its lower than stock.
my c4 holds up prety good with 40ds, and i am not very nice to it.

C6 is one of the toughest trans out there. Stock rebuild and good converter and a good cooler and you will be fine for a long time.

I have no concerns with the c6, I was just preparing myself to build one and I wanted to be sure there wasn't a better option for me.

Thanks everyone for their input.

When I do build it, it will get a reverse manual valve body, heavy duty internals, and a stock, 1600 to 1800 stall. If I need more low end power, I will swap cams in my engine, maybe do some more head work.
