Thinking about gathering parts to 4 link the rear when I swap my tons. Would 7/8 heims and 2" .250 wall links be ok?

I want to do a back half, maybe with air shocks or just coils and a 4 link. Then I will skin it out.

Thoughts?

The way you drive i would go 1-1/4" heims. That is the same tubing i have on my jeep. I say as long as you keep your links to 36" or so you will be fine.

Did some hacking and wacking on my axles today. Cut and ground all my brackets off, shved the 14 bolt, it is now a 13 bolt, and cut the center section down on the 60 for room for the wedges. Happy with how it all turned out.

Pile of crap I cut off....

Axels all cleaned up and primered

The area I cut off for wedge clearance. It is about 1.5" or so

The shave on the 14 bolt. I still need to plate it up, but It will give me about 1.25 of clearance and no lip to catch on.

next on the list is to install gears, weld axle tubes, then plate the bottom of the 14 bolt.

Went out and beat on the ranger a bit today and it finally broke. Something with the slave cylinder, not sure yet but it locked up some how. It started squeaking then all of a sudden I couldn't push the clutch petal in to disengage the clutch, almost ran into the back of cheapthillb2 haha. Anyway, then started it in gear and drove it out. Went to put it on the trailer a.d pushed the clutch in to start and broke the master off the petal. So now I need a slave and master, yay me!

Was a good day besides all that!

I pulled the tranny to day to find a toasted slave. Gonna have to warranty that. Swapped in a new master slave cylinder for the one I broke too.

I tell ya, it was a pain to drop the tranny. Last time I had a body lift on and it cleared the exhaust no problem, this time it didn't. I had to unbolted the drivers side y pipe at the manifold and of course both bolts broke. Cutting them flush and drilling them out sucked. Got it all done and I should be ready to put it back together after I get the new slave.

Be wheeling in no time!

I found a shot tranny mount and 2 motor mounts the are getting pretty soft....those will wait till the v8 swap but I have to pick up a tranny mount. Also my crossmember took a few good hits and was wedged in the frame, think I will make a new tube one when I swap motors also.
