I have about $200 into my arms, another $550 into my air shocks and hoops, then another $250 into track bar and steering. All of that is including the cost of raw steel to make the parts. SO about 1K into the suspension.

My rear leafs? The are chevy 63's or 64's, same thing. They came out of a 90's chevy half ton pickup. To make them work, you just have to move the front hanger forward 6" or so.

I Just got a new windsheild in it and now and just trying to get it to drive right so I can drive it on the road. Things to come, custom bumpers, rock sliders, half doors, build a rear axle for it, bead locks, bigger meats....lots of stuff.

Thanks for lookin

Update, started my sliders. Deciding weather or not to keep my rockers in tack... Sliders are made out of 1.5" diameter with an 1/8 wall welded seam tube.....got it cheap, should work fine.

Fawk it, cut the rockers off too

And about height, lowered it 1" today, took out my overloads. here are some dimensions
slider height

frame and cross member

my roof height is about 76" and here is a comparison shot next to my daily, almost stock Exploder

I think I like the height, just want some bigger meats for it.

Time for a new bumper. The factory one serves no purpose and I need some recovery points, so here is the start. 2x3x 1/4" wall tube, frame notched to fit and welded in. Then I put on the stinger, gotta have it. The stinger is off of the old bumper, trying to work it in, but I might just make a new one....this one is kinda mess up.

Added a couple rocovery points and some paint, have to say I am pretty happy with it.

and on of the 5.0, just cus it was lookin so sexy sittin out there

Went wheeling and everything went good. Truck drove out great, loved it on the trails. The trails that used to be hard are easy now, I ended up smokin a factory hub. I was gonna put my flanges in but my co pilot was done...my 4 year old daughter(hated it on the trails too BTW, lots of fun. Only poser pictures no action shots

and my daughter with the booger truck

Added gussets to one side of my sliders, made them way more stiff.

Started caping my tubes....bout time

My bent tie rod

Gonna change that up a little. I am going to shorten up the drag link to the same length of the track bar, weld some tabs onto the tie rod to mount the drag link in double shear with a 3/4" bolt, flip the tie rod to the top of the knuckles to gain some clearance, mount with 3/4" bolts. Then I am going to flip the drag link to the top of the pitman arm. If I don't, things wont clear and the angle wont be right. I was also thinking about making it double shear...anyone see a problem with doing that? Welding to the pitman arm?

I just don't like how this all looks and I wanna make it double shear, on top

And here is one how it sits....

One last thing, I am gonna buy some Pacer flexy flares to help clean up the cut fenders. Oh, and my winch will be here tomorrow, so stay tuned for mounting of that.

Alright, mounted the winch and my lights, have to say I am happy with how it turned out, and I think it will be plenty strong

Plenty of room to grab the clutch release handle

Then these showed up today, deal I couldn't pass up

Then I made these today...the start of my hinge for my tailgate tire carrier. Gonna use the left over Ruffstuff bushings

Now I just have to wire everything up....

Still thinking on the fairlead, so I started on the spare tire carrier/tail gate combo. Got the main hoop bent up, so far I'm not sure, but here it is. Gives me lots more bed space!

Gotta make some brackets to lock it up and add some more tube, but you get the idea.

Picked up some 36" TSL radials, 6 of them and a few rims

Tires on....

My spares

They are more rashed up than I noticed last night, not sure how I am gonna like that being I still drive the truck to the trails. I still need to get them balanced. I also want to get narrower rims so my rim isn't so exposed. Anyone wanna trade the 8" wide rims for my 10"s?

Gonna be picking up some more tires this weekend, some 36" TSL bias, 5 of them on rims.

Winch wired up and functional, see the control box behind the grill?

And now we are up to todays update.....11/16/10
Got my fair lead mounted, think it turned out good

Then I lowered the front of my truck another inch. I have 3.5" of shock shaft showing.

I'm gonna lower the rear too, just not sure how yet. I have a 2" block in there, undecided if I wanna pull the block and put the overload back in or just cut it down 1".
I like the height, getting low.

And I picked this up, needed a new 1/2" chuck drill real bad, and this combo came with a driver too....good price.

So, stay tuned, i will update as when ever something new comes up...I have a few things in the works so keep your eyes peeled!

Nice job.

I've always thought that a SAS-ed Ranger would be an excellent wheeler... Nice size, real frame, not too wide, and extra wheelbase.

Thanks!

I got my wheel base down to about 115", a lot better than my old 125" and it moves thru the trails great. I think they have a good drive train stock and are a great platform to build on.....and it isn't a ordinary Jeep.....JK! I have love for em all!
