Maybe one day, we will see how it flexes, need to bring it to work and use the highlow to find out.
i would reccommend it lol. it wont limit flex if you get the right ones. youve seen mine up front, they look HUGE, but they compress to about an inch. and you would want to hit your stops before you blow out a shock lol. and its not so much for when your just flexing, its for when you come down hard and your springs cycle up fast and your axle or something else plows into your frame

It gives the axle more leverage on the spring, making it work better and flex more without changing the spring rate.

Fun stuff isn't it

I think I have done like 6 sets. All but my last set I ground flat. The current set I left weld as I had a small even ridge from the weld all the way around. I got lazy, but hey it works .

Are you going to put a anti-coning ring on them?

I feel lazy too, but I am gonna grind...sucks balls! Even the welding isn't fun!

Yeah, I am gonna make some rings, just not sure how soon I am gonna do it. For now I think I am going to stack washers about .5" thick and put em on like every 4th bolt to give me something to tighten down too. See a problem with that? Are your rings 2 pieces or did you weld them back together?

Weld the rings back together? I wouldn't put washers under the bolts. That will disrupt the clamping force on the beads. All I did for a anti-coning was take a strip of either 1/16 or 1/8 thick strip by 1/2 and tack weld it on the inner most circumference of the inside ring.

If you tack weld the strip to the very inside (smallest circumference part) of a 15" rim and then bend the strip all the way around it makes a real nice curve in the strip and fits nicely and smooth.

Lol. I was thinking you told me to use square stock not flat stock strips. If that is all you used I will do it instead of washers. Guess I was confused but I got it now!

Thanks for the links

No, seems like the valve stems will clear just fine. I was debating on moving them or getting angle valve stems but I might just run them as is. You ever have issues?

On my rims I relocated them. But I had no choice. I welded in the hole and drilled a new one in a better location.

Alright, got the rest of the rings welded into the rims, took a few pictures of the process.

Ground the paint off the inside lip of the rim

Positioned the ring inside the rim, rotated it so the valve stem was between the bolts.

Here is the gap that gets filled in with weld

Tacked in place

first set of welds, I do 8 separate welds

finished welding

all of them welded up

Now I just need to get someone who owes me some grinder time to work on these while I set up his gears......

Then I started on my anticoaning rings, they are .125" thick by .5" wide

Then, last of all, I painted my rings booger green. I know I will teased for it, but F it, it's mine and I like it

More to come, like maybe some 38x12.50x15 Swamper TSL SX tires....
