lol! I gotta figure out if I am gonna run the douber now or later. Need to find a different output shaft to make my intermediate shaft. FYI, a 2wd output shaft is not the same spine as the 4wd tranny too bad I already cut it off

Well, the truck is under construction again, yanked the rear suspension out in prep of the inboarded 63's and the FW 8.8 swap. Should go pretty good, just not looking forward to setting up the gears again. Pulled the shafts from the 8.8 today to redrill them 5.5 x 6 pattern also, got lots of work ahead of me this week!

I also made a new rear drive shaft out of 2.5" poop pipe with a 1/4" wall, should be stout. To balance it, or true it up I tacked the yokes on and bolted it up to the truck the spun it with a indicator on it and got it within .020. I think the tube is a little out of round so I think it is almost perfect. We will see. I am going to have another one made so this will be my spare just in case since I have problems keeping them in good condition!

Oh one last thing, I am going to make a skid plate for the drive shaft and maybe one for the belly.

Here are a few pictures of todays progress

out with the old

gonna reuse these

new poop pipe shaft

and new to me 14 bolt, start to my road to one tons....

Yeah, I will consider doing that when it comes time to install it. I need to get a 60 front first.

I am installing a FW 8.8 31 spline right now

Got some work done tonight.....

I offically have the rare 6 lug 8.8

I stripped the old axle of it's gears and started the install into the new FW housing.

I also installed the 'Hobart' locker in my open rear end. No more being pissed at the T-lock

Finished the drive shaft, installed some new U joints and greased it then shot it with a coat of paint

Hope to have it on all 4's again tomorrow night. Pictures to follow.

Got some work done, still need to burn it all in. Gotta adjust the shackle angle too.

On it's own weight

6 lugs....

no block anymore(picked up some bolts today to replace my pin, lol)

front hanger

Thats all!

Anyone need some extented ranger shackles? I can't use them, they are too long and give me too much lift. Make me an offer if you want em.

Alright, finished it up today. Drove it down the road at 55mph, no vibrations so I guess I did alright on my redrill and new drive shaft. Gonna have to relearn the truck with the new Hobart locker, tight turns on dry pavement feels funny. O-well, just need to get another quart of gear oil and add a vent to the axle (had to weld up the stock one, it was in the way) Then I will be ready to move on the the next mod, beadlocks.

it sits level, just not in this picture

next to the dd

Should I?? That would limit flex right? lol What about the shocks, those should do it, limit straps and bumps all in one

Maybe one day, we will see how it flexes, need to bring it to work and use the highlow to find out.
