Default Tacker2 2004 Jeep LJ

I had no intention of doing a build thread as I have never done one with any of my other rigs. Seeing @green50gt asked so nicely to start a build thread I figured I will give it a shot!

Some of you know that I sold my old Jeep back in October. I liked my Jeep alot but wanted something that was a little more street friendly so my wife and kids could drive it too.

After my Jeep sold I had every intention of buying something different but was undecided on what To get. I ended up picking up a very clean 04' Jeep LJ from Davey's Jeeps. It does have a salvage title but the damage was minimal. The body wasn't even touched with the exception of the back of the drivers side front fender.

The Jeep has/had a 3" lift, 33" Baja Claws on 15x10 Procomp wheels, Smittybilt tube fenders front and rear, and a new Bestop Bowless top.

Here is what it looked like when I picked it up....

Build plans are....

Dana 60's front and rear, 3 link front, 4 link rear, highlines front and rear, 37" MTR's.

After we picked up the Jeep @frdtrckmnrich and I stopped at 4wd Hardware which is a few miles down the road from Davey's. The first part I bought for the new build was a Daystar 1 1/4" body mount kit. I installed one in my old Jeep and it seemed to work out well.

Once we got on the Highway headed home we called @CheapThrillB2 at Belle Tire and ordered the 37" MTR's.

Both purchases were a little premature but I knew that was the route I was going so what the hell .

Once I got the Jeep home I had to set up an inspection so I could get the Jeep registered.

The only thing that Davey said was fixed was the transfer case. He also installed the spare tire on the Jeep due to one of the wheels being damaged in the accident.

Apparently the Jeep hit something hard low on the ground. It pushed the front driver side tire back which bent an upper control arm, damaged the back side of the driver side front fender, and pushed the driveshaft through the transfer case. Here is a pic of the damaged fender.

Davey gave me all of the appropriate paperwork to get the Jeep inspected.

I called the local Sheriff department and set up the inspection. Two days later a retired police officer showed up and looked the Jeep over and signed it off

After the inspection I decided to sell a few of the things on the Jeep that I knew I wouldn't be using. The fenders were delivered when I went over to the Oakland County Gully Run on November 1st. The rims and tires sold about a week later .

After the November 1st Gully Run we made a pit stop on our way home and picked up the new front fenders. They are nice!

Although this post is irrelevant to a Jeep build.... It all leads up to the Jeep.

June of 2014 my wife and I found out we were pregnant with our third child. It wasn't exactly planned seeing our other two children are 17 and 14. Everything happens for a reason and you have to stay young somehow .

Our house is currently 3 bedrooms and we needed to make room for our new edition. With some help from a few friends we started the transition to a 4 bedroom house.

On a Sunday morning cheapthrillb2, Frdboy, and myself dug a deep ass hole for an egress window. Luckily Woodyjiw let me use his dump trailer for the project. It was a big help seeing I didn't have to move all of the dirt and stone 2 times.

A picture of the 5+ ft deep hole.

A few days later the block was cut for the window

By the end of the week and feeling half dead the stone and window were done!

The LJ was purchased after the window was installed but before I did any other work to the bedroom in the basement. Because I had not worked on the bedroom at all my wife told me I couldn't work on the Jeep until the bedroom was done .

Needless to say I started on the room....

Part of our basement was semi finished. We decided to just divide the finished room in half and make a small family/movie room and of course the bedroom.

Work on the bedroom began the 2nd weekend in November. I started with some demolition. I removed the paneling from the walls in the area that was going to be the bedroom. While removing the paneling I found a shelf built into the wall that had a few pictures on it as well as a paper bag.

I was not too excited about the bag until I looked in it and found a box of .32 cal lead bullets. There was another box in the bag too.... You guessed it! A cheap throw away fun!

After doing some research the gun was never registered and it had to be sent in to the state crime lab to be checked out. I am still hoping to get it back....

With help from Ezekiel Shitzmere (@Tewsk) we studded in a few walls. By the second weekend in December the bedroom was completely drywalled and the first coat of mud was done.

The baby WAS due January 24, 2015 so I decided we could wait until after the holidays to continue work on the bedroom.

What was I thinking .

I used some vacation the first week of January to work on the bedroom.

Monday 1/5 finished the drywall mud and textured the ceiling.

Tuesday 1/6 primed the walls, ceiling and installed the door.

Wednesday 1/7 painted the walls.

Thursday 1/8 installed a laminate wood floor.

Friday 1/9 installed the trim and closet door.

Saturday 1/10 started moving my 14 year old into her new room
