Be Considerate
As a once single parent who has raised children, I applaud what this guy is trying to say.

Hell yea, I'm all for that. Nothing I can't stand more than trying to enjoy dinner at a restaurant listening to a bunch of screaming kids with parents who can't control them.

That's a really good idea. I wish more places would do that and enforce it.

IMO our society has gotten way too lax with what kids get away with and that's why they push limits so bad. Children WANT limits and guidance. They need to have external controls to help them learn and consistently practice appropriate behavior. That's the job of the parent or adult charged with their supervision. Granted, I don't mean beat the living snot out of them, but they should know what the limit and expectation is. That means having consistent rules so kids know what to expect. Our kids aren't the best behaved kids in the world, but they both know what Chris and I expect and they both know that we will scoop them up from where ever we are and leave if they are acting like Amazons.

I agree that the coffeshop owner was well within his rights to do what he did and I would gladly support him. I hate watching parents who won't (I don't use the word "can't" because to me it signals inability to do so. "WON'T" signals a choice not to do so rather than an inability...) set limits and expectations for their children in public. It makes my blood boil when someone gives them the "evil eye" and they smirk and smile like "gee, my kid's behavior is kinda crazy, huh?" If you have the energy to act coy about your kid's behavior, then you have the energy to grab the child by the arm, sit him or her down, and sternly remind them that they are to be appropriate. GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Thanks for listening...send me the bill

I hate when parents let their kids run wild in public. It drives me nuts!

"Unattended Children Will Be Given an Espresso and a Puppy." HAHAHA that'll teach em

"The rights of any one individual -- whether he or she be a parent, child or stranger -- do not negate the rights of others." another good quote

Theres nothing worse than in the middle of dinner at a nice restraunt, or at the movies some kid all the sudden screaming, and the parents dont do anything about it. Makes me want to get up and smack the parents not the kid.
