Get Netflix streaming for a month. It's $8 a month. Seasons 1 & 2 are both there.

here is my beef. you are in rural georgia and the best weapons you can find is a dollar store machete and a dickhead gryllis parang? A compound crossbow with real feather fletches and cedar shafts? Seriously?

Good luck finding someone to warranty your machete in a post zombie world.

So you can believe in the living dead but fake guns are incomprehensible to you all?

While I can suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the show, I have another nagging question:

Why do they choose the vehicles they do? Essentially they have access to virtually any type of vehicle they wanted.

Hyundai crossover - obvious, because Hyundai bought a lot of advertising and does a good bit of cross-promotion. Platform-wise, not a bad choice (space, some minor offroad capability, gas mileage)

What looks to be a early 90s 2WD 'burb with an exhaust leak and/or rod knock. Why not a newer 4WD model? I can see gas over diesel, since the diesel fuel will start breaking down sooner with the humidity. I assume they're scavenging gas from cars left around.

Dodge P/U. Why not a 4WD?

Chopper. Part of the comic book character persona, but a really bad choice. What about a dirt bike or "adventure bike"?

While he's gone now, but the clapped-out "welfare Winnebago" that constantly needed wrenching bothered me. Get a newer one for God's sake.

Yeah, they ditched (and stripped, for some reason) the Challenger, but kept some ratty trucks.

Sort of like in Falling Skies, the best platform for a machine gun was a GTO convertible?

I think it represents his "loner-ness". With the chopper, at any moment of his choosing, he can split off and do his own thing. Also, he uses it because it was his brothers. It's probably a sentimental thing.

BTW, Darryl wasn't in the comic, so they can really do whatever they want with his character.

Falling Skies carries the implication of an "EMP-like" event that would've taken out newer vehicles (although in all honesty, the newer dirt bikes and ATVs would've had their CDIs toasted as well). Still the GTO with the Ma Deuce 50 cal hurts.

There's a not-bad book I just read about an EMP event called "One Second After" that's worth a quick read. Similar to these two, it focuses on how our society would fare if all electronics were wiped out.

A weekend power outage shows that.

I have read quite a few books in that genre. post WCE books are a favorite of mine. While i admittedly love being able to order a pizza while buying guns and watching live sex cameras there is something fascinating about this.
