Default Now what?

it's not about the victories of rep's v. dem's, it's about What You Do With The Opportunity.

i am reminded of the final scene it robert redford's movie The Candidate. he won the election and all the campaign consultants were gone within hours. he, the elected winner, didn't have a clue as to what to do next.

'we' got what we wanted. hope something useful comes of it.

again i say, if both parties are against deficits, why do we still have deficits? if both are against poverty, why do we still have poverty? yada yada.

First, we wait for the lame duck session to end, then hopefully we see the candidates live up to 1/2 of what their promises were.

I'm not too worried about anything major/consequential getting passed during the lame duck session. If the Democrats barely had enough votes to pass anything in the past two years and had to fight fight fight to pass what they did, I don't see much making it through both the House and the Senate over the next couple of months. Especially since it's doubtful that they would get 60 in the Senate for just about anything right now.

The debt ceiling vote will tell you everything you need to know for the next two years. That should happen sometime early next year, I believe, and it's not by accident that it happened that way.

Here in NC we have a few big things that we are attempting to get through the general assembly:
1. Castle Doctrine
2. Concealed Carry in Restaurants that serve alcohol
3. Eliminate the Jim Crow law that makes us need handgun purchase permits from the Sheriff. Their are many people here who get denied a purchase permit, who then apply for a CCW permit, and get one.
4. Concealed carry during state of emergency.

For the first time since the civil war, we have republican control of both houses in NC which is a big deal for us. Even though we have a whacko nutjob aging hippy liberal douchebag Governor, we should now have enough votes to overturn a veto. The last session of the General Assembly the first three of these were killed in committee by a liberal person who is now out of a job, and they will be back up for votes in the next session. The fourth will be a little a little more tricky, but we will see what happens. This should be an interesting couple years for us here in NC.

Sorry to inform you but it is pretty hard to have a fight fight fight when you close the door on the people you are fight with. The did what they wanted with no input from the . Remember Obama saying he will have SeaSpan televising the talks on health care reform. The doors were shut to all but his party.
Now is the time for the to do what the people want and need. With the tea party pushing the maybe now they will listen. The have two years to get it together and bring new ideas to Obama and watch him say NO as he has been doing.

The fed buying 1 Trillion in bonds, like they say they are going to do, should cause enough damage for our country soon enough.

I like how some people view the parties as good V evil when reality is more grim. It's the lesser of two evils.

I am just hoping that they can fight Obamacare. HR at my work just met with our insurance provider and costs are going up about 20% for next year due to increased costs to the providers.
