In hindsight, I wish I would have kept mine up in the tub and moved the rear axle back another 3-4".

I don't want to move my axle back anymore, I hate comp cut. It's not exactly difficult to move the cell back up if needed though, especially compared to the other aspects of building these damn projects.

You haven't put a 103" WB vehicle with 40" tires on anything vertical yet apparently 106"-108" would be a lot more comfortable IMO. It depends on what your plan is though. Either way it looks great. Keep at it, it'll be done eventually.

Yeah I'm sure you're right, I just built it where I think it'll work well and how I like it to look. Realistically this thing is severely overbuilt for how I plan to use it....I should've stuck with my original plan of 1/2 ton axles and 37s. I plan to do mostly street driving and dune running with some decent wheeling in between, but doubt I'll do much harder than R&V, Bundy, and The Mounds. I don't have the time or money to travel too much with it, nor the spare funds to repair/upgrade the stuff that tends to break on those trips. I'm hoping I enjoy driving it around when it's done, but I think it's just as likely that I'll sell or trade it and build what I really belong in; a mild TJ on 33s with LS power.

Looks good! I like the fuel cell placement. You plan on fully covering it in the passenger compartment?

So if I throw my 5.3 in my TJ after fixing the frame and 1/2 tons under it I can trade for yours?!

Yes to the first part.

If you do the full build with the new frame and tub, good axles, and properly built then that's a possibility. If you piece it together with that rusted out pile of fukc , then no.

Busy weekend but made a little progress at least...

I decided not to plate the whole bottom with 3/16" plate due to weight. This Jeep is gonna be too damn heavy as it is. I threw a couple strips of 3/16 on there and tacked in some nuts and will put 1/4 or 3/8" UHMW under it. It's not an area that's likely to see much for impacts, let alone in the center, but I think this combo will give decent protection in the unlikely event that I do land on it hard. The frame/cradle is all 2x2x.25" angle so it'll be pretty stout.

Another small update as usual due to too many spring projects taking priority

Made straps and mounts for the fuel cell but didn't take pics.

Clearanced the hood for the coilovers

Made a steering shaft and mount

Tight clearances all around. 1/8" from coilover hoop, had to clearance the motor mount a bunch, slight clearancing of the frame, and the joint at the box is about 3/8" from the track bar at full bump

Thanks. I'm getting pretty frustrated with how much shit there is left to do, but it is what it is. I want to use the damn thing. I just about choked my wife last night when she came out in the garage and asked what % done I think I am. Just trying to tackle one small project at a time at this point.

You are definitely in the worse part of a build... The little pestering crap. But as in all builds, it must go on. Keep on keepin' on. Let me know if ya need any help where 2 people are needed. I'm diggin how this thing is turning out.

Not sure if I even think this is the worst part for me. I like having small projects so I can get stuff knocked out and get a small sense of accomplishment out of it. With all the big stuff it felt like I was never done and never getting anywhere. Then again, what's pissing me off now is that every time I finish one thing I find five more to do, so I guess I'm still in the same damn boat. I just wanna get out and enjoy this thing while the weather is nice and before I run out of excuses for not knocking up the ole lady.

Well that's not very nice. I retract my helping statement! Sounds like I should donkey punch you so you don't need any more excuses to knock the wife up lol. I can't do that though... Caden needs someone to wheel with when he gets older.

Had a CJ steering box brace floating around the junk pile so I put it to good use:

Finally made a new push rod for the Dodge 1 ton master cylinder:

Made a mount for my radiator(went with a Summit racing universal aluminum unit)

....but I couldn't get it low enough. Even with the mount sitting on the steering shaft(see above), the hood still hit the cap and center of the core. So as usual, I spent more time modifying shit to make it work how I wanted:

Fits great now!

Now I need to build the top mount and figure out how I want to mount the factory fan shroud. Shouldn't be hard.

....and then I ran out of my normal garage beer, started drinking my random leftovers of varying flavors, and now I have a headache.

Yeah I remember you mentioning it. When I set the radiator in place and (mostly) closed the hood, I thought to myself, "Damnit Scott....."
