Unpossible. I had a worn-out B&M shifter.... it took me minutes to switch from F to R.

I can never stay mad at beer for long. I usually forgive it by 9 or 10 am.

I forgot to mention that I put a Detroit in the rear a me while its been down. While doing so I think I discovered what my mysterious "rear axle noise" was, which has been there since day one.

Not sure yet. I'm happy with what I have but I want to re-do my front shock hoops which are tied into my engine mounts so if I'm ever going to go LS now is the time. I bought a 4.8 that I may run just to get wiring and accessories all sorted out and if I like it maybe ill build something hotter.

Then again, mine runs just fine, so I don't know.

I won't really know until I drive it again, but here's where I'm at:

For years I ran the same set if welded spiders is the same carrier in the same axle and all was well. When I built the jeep I used the same spiders and carrier but installed them in a different housing. Since day one, I have had a rattle/vibe/noise coming from the rear when I coast at speed. I have a nice pattern, and am confident that the pinion is properly set. The straddle bearing was bad and that fix cured a lot of the noise, but it's still there.
Upon disassembly to install the Detroit, I noticed that the inside of the carrier was chewed up from the spiders, more specifically the weld in the spiders. I ran a bead in between the teeth but ran the bead a bit long, essentially increasing the outside diameter of the spiders in those localized areas. Those high-spots of weld appear to have bees contacting the carrier. What confuses me is that this is welded..... so the spiders should never be spinning inside the carrier, right? I'm confused and my thumb is tired.
