VOTE:

I'm having trouble packaging a cooling fan.

My options at this point are to use a fixed blade flex fan or a 14" or smaller electric as a pusher. My plans to use a nice 16" or 18" electric puller no longer will work. If I run a mechanical, I can only shroud 1/2 of it, which I think would be useless.

DISCUSS!!

Why can you package a mechanical, but not shroud the whole thing? Shrouds don't really need much room??

Grille bars are gone, as are the humps of the grille that they mounted to.

I can shroud the top 270* of it, but my track bar at full bump is pretty tight to the bottom- Which is also why I will need a fan smaller than the 18" one I have if I choose mechanical.

I have the entire front of the rad to run a pusher, if I move my trans cooler behind the rad, otherwise I need a 14". I don't like pusher fans due to the exposure to mud, leaves, etc. Maybe I need to get over that.

Can you fit two smaller fans? AlumCJ was pimping two spal fans and it was keeping his engine cool.

I can, which would be ideal, actually, but it seems they are none cheaper based on size, and then I would need 2.

Yeah, there is that problem, but it does make it somewhat easier to package and actually cools the rig.

Some smaller cars are sporting the dual fan setup. Might start checking the junkyards.

here is where I got mine, not bad pricing. Might be easier than chasing the unknown in a junkyard

All set. I cut down a flex fan and milled a 2" spacer to 1 3/8". Things are still tight but I have 3/4" everywhere which should be more than enough clearance.
I cut and spliced some radiator hoses to fit and started the wireing tonight. I currently have 5 wires going into the firewall and I have power to the ign, wipers, HVAC, headlight switch and cig lighter. Strangely enough- the radio, which worked the other day when 12v was added to the PDC, no longer works. I have 13v at the fuse box behind the glove box, but no radio. Food for thought.

I now have power steering, in theory.
I'm trying to get at least one thing done a day now. I should be finished around 2014.

Stepping back to earlier pages for a minute-
When I built the tricycle for my kid he was really too little for it. We had some friends over last night for dinner that had heard about it so i brought it in the house for them to see. Vince ran over, hopped on and paddled around the house for 20 minutes. He seems to dig it. Hopefully his feet can reach the pedals by spring.
