Default steel tubing?

not sure where to post this but,

im looking for steel tubing. preferably DOM tubing, or other steel for roll cages.

going to be caging my ranger cab and bed. probably 1.75" or 1.5" wide .120 thick. something like that. probably a few 20 footers or so. or at least around that length

whats the cheapest place you guys have found to get it?

near lansing,mi? (still willing to drive for cheap steel)

I used alro. Best price I found and they even delivered to my door! A flat bed semi rolled up to the house and I helped the guy unload the steel. Delivery was no extra cost either.

in Lansing, you can also check Padno's...they have a "usable scrap" yard, and always have lots of stuff there, alot of it is actually new steel bought for contract jobs and not used, etc...
Buy the good stuff from Alro for the main hoops in the cage, and see if Padno's has something you can use for the rest of the parts of the cage...could easily save alot of money that way, but the trade off is time...you have to walk around the yard/building and pick out what you want, and take it to the scale. Thier stock changes often, and they may or may not have something you could use on any given day.
They sell everything by the pound, but I dont know off the top of my head what the prices are. I do get alot of stainless there, but I often have another guy go get it for me.

Alro will also check their other shops for specific drops in stock, and schedule to deliver local if you want it.

I pay $0.50 per pound for 1.625 dom which is what Alston and many others use. I had to open up a 1.5" die but it bent well. Surplus Steel Supply ...Lewis St. Jackson. I buy all my steel there.
